Official Dec 2012 MATH thread

i put 8 sqrt smth

answer was 16. it was asking for the sum of the lengths of all 8 edges added together. you had to find the four “slant” edges by using trig, and they equaled 2 each. the bases were all 2, so 2x8=16.

wait, was the parabola facing down on the a/c?

It was 16. If you guys look a few pages back I explained the parabola one… it’s e

the parabola one: the answer looked like it had barely changed, but (and idk if it’s just me but it’s hard to explain) in the original graph, lets say the majority of the parabola was in quadrant 2, with a sliver in quad 1. when reflected over the y axis, the sliver was in quad 2 and the majority was in quad 1. it might’ve been vice versa but thats what i remember. and thirrdplanet is correct, i remember the answer (if O is the answer) looking like this:

X X
X O
X

Now i dont remember if it was D or E (or J or K) but i know that’s where it was placed.

it is still facing up, but there were two answer choices. 1 was where it didn’t change at all/ 2 was where the left part was reflected to the right. I chose 2

YES that is what I said earlier! Read the thread!

The answer for the parabola graph was K, you had to graph it then reflect it over the Y-axis (VERTICAL AXIS). The vertex was on the right side of the axis and facing UP

choose a graph
y=abs(x-1)-2
answer A

can anybody verify?

Orangecream, I got A too.

there was an equation for a circle, the radius was 5, right? so the equation was like smth=25

was the answer to the one where you had to find “K” and they gave you the set of 3 equations negative 9???

@actstudent That’s what I put

It asked for you to just flip it across the y-axis. The vertex would be in the IV quadrant and it is facing up.

Any predictions on what the curve might be?

was #59 the dots problem or the one with the -18?

It was not the dot problem.

Was -9 an option for the -18 problem?

Don’t think so…I remember answers -18, -16, 18 and two more

Ok… I think I got -9… is my graph answer right from above?
