Official December SAT I Forum

I also took ap stat, and I also received a 5 along with 5's on 4 other exams. I took the sat i yesterday and it's 10, now stop arguing over one stupid question.

Exactly. I re-read this question 2-3 times to confirm what I was putting down. It specifically said the "intersection of x and y".

"exactly the question just asked the intersection of YZ. Lets say for example you have 3 sets x = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8} and y = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9} and Z = {1,2,3,9,10} ok then the intersection of X and Y is 7 intersection of XYZ = 3 but when it asks the intersection of XY then the answer is 7"
okay for this problem would it not = 7

just redraw the Y and Z circles w/o X and u'll see that it includes the 3 from XYZ

no, it would not, because the intersection of xy is seven, but it also intersects with the 3 too, the question never said "xy ONLY" it said xy, and xy intersects with 7 and 3, cuz it does intersect with BOTH, unless they specifically said, "XY ONLY" then you're wrong.

You have to ignore the z in this problem, it's basically a trick question. If you redraw as paniwani said, thet 3 will be there no matter what.

i need some feedback:
Puerto rican girls passage - i put 'girls approached each other w/ caution
SC freedom of speech - i put divisive...prohibiting
ill-conceived failure - i put that
whimsical? - what is this problem?
Alaska - i put undeveloped

move on rajnitarajnita, it's over, you lost, son. Don't feel bad, we all lose a few battles here or there.

Exactly. I read a guide that said not to interpret EVER on the SAT. I was going to put down romanticized...but that required interpreting on my part and drawing conclusions. So, I chose "two theories".

It is surprising that you shouldn't interpret...but after reading the guide I found out it was correct.

Was the Venn Diagram part of the second Grid-in or first Grid-in? Hopefully its second grid-in so it will be experimental!

it was not experimental, Im sure of it.

damn, that means i missed that one too. And i had 10 as my first answer. *****.

what was the answer to the freedom of speech SC, i put divisive...prohibiting
it read something like:
"Freedom of speech is not always _, in some areas where it isnt restricted there is less crime than in areas where it is _"

divisive and dissent was the answer.
ill conceived failure is wrong. (answer was foolish imitation)
girls approaching each other with caution is right.
whimsical is wrong. (can't remember the answer)
undeveloped is right.

and did we establish what the two girls' initial response was:
i put they noted each other with caution

Alaska had to be undeveloped. It had just contrasted the natural state of it with the soon to be in a poor state after the real estate people got to it.

And does anyon know in the sentence completion section if the squirrels needed contextual clues to find where they had buried their nuts?

one more, at the end of the puerto rican girls passage: it said she knew the "dangers that lay ahead"
did u answer:
fearful and uncertain

yes. that is correct.

dude xindianx, ur great.

Here's a link (scroll down to the diagram) to clarify why 10 is the answer to the Venn Diagram question.

Note how the number in the intersection between all three circles is NOT included in the intersection between just two circles.
