Official December SAT II Math 2 Thread

how about the question with a parabola opening to the left and the parametric equations? i put E

what will the curve most likely look like? anyone know?

i skipped one.. but i think i got the international phone call problem wrong..
was it 2/9? or 4/9?

4/9

what was the answer to the question about the pairs of parametric equations? was it E?

yeah it was E

it's 4/9. 2/9 would be the probability if the order of type of call mattered, so you double that...

different method: by multiplication, 1/9 is the probability for international/international and 4/9 is the probability for local/local. this leaves 4/9 for when call types are mixed.

for the parametric, i graphed on my TI (mode in PAR)
DAMN it was 4/9 ERGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

I graphed it in parametric mode, too, but whereas the picture showed a complete parabola, all of the answer choices that i graphed showed only half of a parabola.
do you remember the answer?

that was the closest one, i thought.

x = -t2 - 1 and y = t,

i think.
and thats what someone got on page 2 or 1.

the reason it only graphed half of the parabola is found in your window settings... the calculator allows you to set a minimum and maximum T, independent of the window size. your minimum T was probably 0...

i think dinosaurrawr is right about the answer

Hiya...

I took this stupid test today...

I answered about 35 out of 50 questions leaving 15 blank... I have no idea how many I got wrong... I dont mind keeping my score as long as it's 500+ (not like my major is going to have anything to do with math). I don't know, maybe at most 10 wrong out of the ones I answered?

What do you think, should I cancel?

dont cancel.
you can still get 650<x<750

Yay! thanks... Also I took practice tests out of this crap book called Mc Graw or something like that (I don't reccomend their tests). I got 500's on those but there were all kinds of errors they made so I'm hoping maybe I'll get a little better than that. :)

Man, i left 10 wrong, and probably at MOST got 3 wrong. I don't feel like cancelling. Some of my schools have a Dec. deadline, so I guess I can submit Jan scores to my other schools... If god is good to me, I can get 720+!

I don't know if you guys noticed--but personally, after taking about 12 practice tests from the PR, Kaplan, and REA books (all borrowed from friends), I noticed this one today was much longer--far more "wordier" problems and word problems as well! I guess my mistake was pacing.

wow is it bad that i skipped 1?
i guessed a few...

i studied with PR + SparkN.
dude, barron's was.... insane.
die barrons.

but, barrons can get you 5's on APs.

i got the barron's review book... and quit the practice test halfway through

the test today was nothing like it

freals. freals.
but Sparknote's was pretty close to today's, i thought.
hm,
i'm scared.

post some questions before my answers escape my small brain.
