Official December SAT II Math 2 Thread

I went through some practice problems in the Barron's books and ambivalently said to myself on many problems "These won't be on the test" so I skipped many of their problems. Thank god I was right :D

I omitted 8 and so far I've missed 1, the "4/9" question ;;
What would that amount for me?

long distance call can't be 2/9

bec.. say if u used the coin as a model:

changed the possiblity of heads as the long dist call, so 1/2, and the possibility of tails as 1/2, what's the possibility of 1 head and 1 tail? 1/4 not 1!!

...i was gonna put 4/9 but i changed my mind....

the possibility of 1 head and 1 tail would be 1/2

Man, I got 750 on the practice test from collegeboard the night before (finishing 8 minutes early) and ended up bombing it horribly today. 11 omitted, 5 because I didn't pace myself. I already counted 2 wrong from this thread. Fustrating...

So, what was the circle problem's answer? x^2-6x+y^2-4 y-12=0 with radius of 5... or something.

complete the squares for the circle problem... you can rewrite it as
(x - 3)^2 + (y - 2)^2 = 25

so the center is (3, 2)

no...i messed it up >< the 4/9 question...i knew it too!!! garrrrr

for the circle one, i put (3,-2) bec it was +6x? anyone remember?

The signs were definitely different. I remember that for sure cause I was like "aha! You can't trick me!". Ugh.

Anyway, it was either (-3,2) or (3,-2).

Pretty sure it was -6x but not sure either. I omitted it cause I spent some time on it, and was going to come back to it when after I was done (but I ended up not even getting close to finishing). I'm just asking for a friend.

It WAS (3,-2). 100% certain. (I checked my memory log of operations on my TI-89.)

oh, klogon tricked me

complete the squares for the circle problem... you can rewrite it as
(x - 3)^2 + (y - 2)^2 = 25
so the center is (3, 2)"

there was no (3,2) answer...lol it was (3, -2)

Yes, we've already established that it was a mistake of typing a minus instead of a plus sign.

i think i'll go edit my post to erase my shame

oh wait... i can't

haha my bad for telling klogon the wrong equation, hard to remember these things. especially when your flustered over not bringing a calculator and using the 4 function one they gave me

sinx=0.90, 0 < x < pi/2 what is cosx/2?

what kind of score can I expect if I omitted 8 and missed 2?

What's the score I will get with -8 to -10 on the test with no omitted question?

arcsin(.9)=x
x=1.1197
cos 1.1197/2= .847

What scores can be expected with raw scores of 43 and 45 on Math 2?

Over30 - that should be really close to 800, I think.

omfg! just admit that it was really (3, -2)!!!!
