** Official Decision Thread EA Class of 2013 **

The letters come out at the same time. My friend and I got different responses, but received the letter on the same day.

Hi all.

I got into both schools EA (yes, I do realize how blessed I am) but now have a tough choice to make. Anyone else ever in this position that can help me out? Business major. Pros and cons would really help here.
Thanks.

I got into both nd and georgetown for political science

you guys are so lucky, i would say go to notre dame for biz unless u want international biz then go to georgetown

colinization - as a freshman, you are not technically in any of the colleges, rather, you have been admitted to the first year of studies program. fys is a broad program that allows you to take classes across many different programs.

you only enter your specific college once you declare a major. even when you are in your college, though, you have to take certain university requirements that are not necessarily in your college as well. also, it's almost always possible to major or minor in something unrelated to your main major as long as you talk to your advisor and they get some sort of program set up. it's one of the things that makes notre dame unique.

has anybody from florida, or more specifically, south florida, gotten letters yet?

Colinization: what ocolange said.

I was really sketchy about this too, and almost didn't apply because of it, but thankfully an ND rep came to my school and cleared it all up. So yeah, you're first year apparently you're not tied to anything at all and Sophomore year is when you choose, although you will still be able to take classes across all colleges.

I was also named an "ND Scholar," which my guidance counselor says means admittance to the Honors College. Is this true? Did anyone else get this on his decision letter?

congratulations everyone!

a new round of domers! :)

good luck with your decisions. For those rejected, keep chugging away. Though this door has been closed, another one just opened. Go through it with no regrets.

My roommate and I both chose ND over Georgetown, but for different reasons. He's a poli sci major, and I'm doing science/engineering. From what I've heard from him, the ND poli sci department is phenomenal, and the teachers he has had for his freshman Comparative Politics class and poli sci seminar have both been awesome. For me, Georgetown simply doesn't have an engineering college, and its science programs are not exactly well-known. At ND, if you want to be a chem or biochem major, the teacher you'll have for first semester chemistry is one of the best intro chem profs. anywhere. Also, the Chemical/Biomolecular Engineering department is pretty well known, and they have a pre-med option within that major that seems pretty cool (what I'm currently in).

Don't know much about business, sorry. Good luck on making your final choice.

and if you are looking to go to a catholic university…then it’s a moot issue because ND is the winner via process of elimination!

(i’m sorry…i HAD to) :)

you know I love you Georgetown!
