Decision: Accepted with STRIDE

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown, if submitted): 780 CR, 680 M, 800 W (2260 total)
[] ACT (if submitted): My transcript had a 32 on it, I think (36E, 29M, 34R, 30S, 11 essay)
[] SAT II (if submitted): 780 USH, 750 Lit
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.98
[] Grades in AP/IB/honors classes (if applicable) All As
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): My transcript has a weighted rank of 1/~81. Officially, we don’t rank, but Smith probably saw that, anyway. I’d be 2/~81 unweighted.
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): English Lit (5), English Lang (5), USH (5)
[] IB (place score in parenthesis):
[] Senior Year Course Load: Three APs, calculus, and stuff I need to graduate
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Nothing major. Most of it was for writing (first place in a state creative writing competition, second/third place in various regional competitions, published poetry). I had a few minor debate awards, NHS/NJHS, some departmental excellence awards, and National Merit Commended.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership and number of years participated in a certain activity in parenthesis): Professional choir (4 years), Quiz Bowl (3 years, 2 at varsity level, 1 as co-captain of varsity team), legislative debate (3 years), Student Council (1 year, secretary)
[] Job/Work Experience: I had an internship at a hospital over the summer.
[] Volunteer/Community service: I work each summer with an opera camp for children. It’s one of my passions and I always have a lot of fun.
[] EC short answer (subject, if desired, and personal opinions on it): About my volunteering. It did a good job of expressing how I feel within the word limit.
[] Common App Essay (subject, if desired, personal opinions on it): About my cursive handwriting and how it reflects my personality. Could have been better, but was fairly solid overall.
[] Common App Supplement essays: Pretty good. I could have said a lot more about why I want to go to Smith, but I managed to get the gist of it down. I don’t remember what I said for the women’s college one.
[] Teacher Recommendations (if you saw them): Both (from my pre-calc teacher and European history teacher) were excellent, along the lines of “top in my career.”
[] Counselor Rec (if you saw it): Probably good. She likes me a lot.
[] Additional Rec (if you saw it): None.
[] Interview: It was the first interview I ever had, so I was nervous, but I think it went over well! I interviewed about ten days after Smith allows you to in your junior year and had just about the nicest interviewer, ever.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Intended Major: Undecided. It could be something in the biology/physics/engineering/math field, or it could be American history or something involving education.
[] State (if domestic applicant): Michigan
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Dirt poor public magnet. Best in the area, #2 in the state.
[] Ethnicity: White and nerdy
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): None, unless you count being Finnish.
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I have a lot of interests and have been committed to them. I work hard and give my all in everything, and my teachers like me.
[] Weaknesses: My math test scores… but Smith doesn’t really care about test scores, so hurray for that!
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I don’t know. I think I’m a good fit for a women’s college, and Smith could tell. [/li][/ul]General Comments: I’m very, very happy about this. It more than makes up for the two waitlists I’ve received in the past four days, and the one that is guaranteed to be coming from Middlebury on Sunday.

Also, congratulations to everyone. :)
