Any guesses as to when we find out? Will it definitely be in the next day or two?

Guesses? There are 77 pages of date guessing on this thread alone, marcut. But good luck to you whenever it may be.

You will all find out between now and April 6th. From the beginning, Michigan has made it clear that all decisions will be made by early April.

Alexandre - As an alum, is it driving you nuts that UVA is releasing at 5:30 tonight, Harvard is releasing next week at a certain time, and we seem to be drip, drip, dripping our decisions out? I must say, it doesn’t make us look like the most ‘efficient’ institution in the world. As you mentioned in another thread, if UCLA can process 92,000 applications and release all on the same day, we can too!

It is not exactly “driving me nuts”, but it does not reflect positively on the university. As you say, if UCLA can process more applicants in a timely fashion, there is no reason Michigan cannot. I think moving the deadline up from February 1 to January 15 may help.

This said, we should keep in mind two things:

A large chunk of students who are admitted have already received their decision. I would estimate less than 10% are remaining at this time. This means that Michigan responds earlier than most universities.

Those who do not hear back until April 5 or whatever date aree not less in-demand, their files simply weren’t revised until now. Those applicants should not take it personally. I know it is easier said than done, but it is true.

What is the basis for your “less than 10% remaining” estimate, Alexandre? Surely you have not heard this from the admissions office, which, as you know, never says anything except “everyone will hear by early April.”

If you don’t actually have any basis for it, it probably wasn’t a very nice post to make.

^^there is another thread re: campus day at UM where it was apparently mentioned during one of the sessions that there were 55,000 applications and that the large majority of the class has already been filled with the EA acceptances…not an exact number but I imagine that Alexandre is correct; this follows previous years as well…

tougis, I appologize if I seemed insensitive. That was not my intention. I was just giving an estimate. I could well be off. There is no way of knowing for sure.

Rodney, I don’t deny that it’s possible and I don’t know what pct of the class was accepted EA, but based on this and several other internet sites (like naviance and collegedata.com), it’s pretty obvious that there have only been a trickle of acceptances since then. That is, nearly everybody is still waiting. So if your two predictions are accurate, pretty much everybody who has ever posted on an RD site anywhere will be rejected or waitlisted.

Better to have actual data than to make estimates of that type, IMHO.

Have anyone get waitlist, I am really worried my decision now. I only heared rejected and accepted.

I agree tougis. I usually try to avoid estimates.

No problem. I know no harm was intended.

It would be absurd to make an assumption like that with absolutely no hard evidence to support

If decisions come out on Friday, do they start at midnight tonight or in the morning?

I think it will be midnight, I hope I can get my acceptance.

Best of luck tougis - rooting for more Boston area people at Michigan.

I wish I had a daughter so, if she applied here and got accepted, I could be like, “They want the D.”

any1 think decisions out tonight?

haha emberjed

Hey thanks, Bigdoglover!

Someone from my school got accepted today…so nervous because I haven’t gotten a decision yet…
