So I applied to Duke kind of just out of nowhere as a why not school. I have no clue if I’d like it there if I got in but I mean if I did its Duke which is a big deal. Im 7/7 on college acceptances so far can anyone tell me about Duke please
@ivyhopeful97 what schools have you already gotten into?
@Dhruv97 I got into UVA, UNC Chapel Hill Honors with $32,000 scholarship, University of South Carolina Honors College with $90,000 scholarship, Pitt Honors and accepted through grad school same with UNCC, High Point which I didn’t care about and Marquette. I live in NC so im in state
@ivyhopeful97 UNC is a good school overall. But it’ll come down to your major when you’re choosing what school is better
@ivyhopeful97 Your options are solid. UVA is a great school too, incredibly difficult out of state to get into too, but it is really expensive. Are you ready to bear the costs of the ivies and public ivies? haha I don’t know if I am yet!
@Dhruv97 I’ll be majoring in the economics and business area hoping to pursue masters education. @cvisser96 doesn’t UVA give great financial aid though? But cost is a big thing probably the biggest sadly
@ivyhopeful97 we legit have the same life
@geekchic really??
@ivyhopeful97 I also am 7/7 and have no desire to go to Marquette. Probably majoring in Econ.
@geekchic whats your number one school
@ivyhopeful97 my original plan was that whichever one I got into would be my #1 since my 31 ACT made them all a reach.
@geekchic I have a 33 ACT and still feel like conrell duke and yale are reaches which they kind of are so im freaking out still
@ivyhopeful97 it’s just now hitting that I got into WUSTL and Emory and UNC AND Vandy. I feel blessed and unworthy.
Aah! Who’s freaking out? I am. College confidential is essentially poison because I just keep comparing my stats to last year’s “accepted” stats. XD
Does everyone who applies to Duke get an interview? We are in NC and my son was emailed for an interview. It went well, although shorter than he expected. Just curious if this is standard practice. Thank you.
@MarchMadness1 They try to give all applicants an alumni interview. Though, it’s mostly meant for the student to learn more about the school from an actual student.
@MarchMadness1 Not everyone. Since you’re son is in NC, I’d assume there would be plenty of Duke alumni there to interview him.
Did everyone have a stellar Duke interview? It was by far the highlight of my entire college app process! Honestly, she was so sweet and I just enjoyed getting to know her, Duke and myself through our chat.
I didn’t even get a Duke interview and I live in NC whoops
Does anyone know if there’s an overlap in the admissions/ financial offices at this point in the run? I understand that your financial standing don’t influence your admission, but we have had a lot of e-mails from Duke’s financial offices concerning specific, obscure, and unrequired tax returns. Should I be getting my hopes up about this? Or is it nothing? (It says in the e-mail that it’s no sign of your admission standing, but it’s they’ve been putting so much effort into helping us that I can’t not hope…)
