**** OFFICIAL DUKE CLASS OF 2019 REGULAR DECISION (RD) DISCUSSION ****

I was never offered an interview even though I applied before the 20th, I really would’ve loved to have gotten to know more about the Duke feel from a first hand account. I had about 10 other interviews and they gave me real insight into the school. But I guess it didn’t really matter since I ended up getting a likely either way. I still want to speak to a local alumni, do you guys think this would be possible?? I know some colleges have alumni recruitment parties for those accepted but idk about Duke

@Husgomboc‌ : did you get the email on the 16th?

@Homeless2Harvard‌ congratz on the likely letter! May I ask what college you received one (or more) from? By the way, I did not receive a Duke Interview either, although I submitted the application before the 20th

Yeah I submitted my app the day of the deadline which explains my not getting an interview

@RunningForLife‌ I got one on the 12th and again on the 16th, and we’ve been exchanging e-mails up until yesterday.

@Sajidur4‌ from Duke

Hi! Figured I’d join in with the discussion! I’m from California and applied to Pratt for biomedical engineering. Which I may or may not be regretting come Thursday. This process of waiting is driving me absolutely crazy.

I’d say Duke is my number one now, but I am also into UCSD for physics and biophysics, just depends on if I get into Duke as to whether I’ll live 20 miles from home or like a 1000 miles

Does anyone know chances for someone who was deferred ED but has alumni and has sent many updates and extra letters of recommendation?

Can you guys chance? I love Duke and being from Cali I want to go to the south for college so I can have a totally different experience and I heard Duke is the way to go if I want to go south. A kid at my school got a likely letter and has worse/lower everything than me except that he’s 7/500 and I’m 19/500.

Hey guys, I understand that this question is extremely late in the process, considering that decisions come out tomorrow, but I just have a question about financial aid so that I am not crushed if/when I receive my rejection.

I originally checked the box that I would be applying for financial aid, but after looking at my current finances and filling out the FAFSA, my family determined that it was very unlikely that I would receive any aid (a fair assessment as my brother is also in college and has gone through the same thing). Therefore, we dd not fill out the CSS or receive any additional information from Duke’s office of financial aid. So, I am curious if this lack of further communication means that I am getting rejected tomorrow, so they do not care about my finances, or if it means that they believe that I am no longer filing for financial aid, meaning the lack of further communication is no indication of my decision. Any insight would be greatly appreciated and I wish you all the best of luck tomorrow!

@123peace‌ That’s an interesting question I’ve wondered as well. My daughter probably won’t qualify for financial aid either, but we gave them everything they asked for just in case it mattered. They asked for a lot including our W2s. But to answer your question, admissions should be separate from financial aid.

@Maroonsfan‌ Thank you for the clarification! I hope that’s true, but I guess we’ll find out tomorrow. As I said before, we have gone through the same process with my brother and received no aid, so we did not want to take the time for something that we knew would not be worthwhile.

Does anyone know if Duke is usually on time with decisions? Or is there any chance they submit it earlier?

Where else has everyone applied/been accepted?

Financial Aid and Admissions are two totally separate offices. You won’t be hurt in the decision process by not submitting CSS or FAFSA since Duke is a need-blind school!

@alecxl Thank you, I was just wondering if they had any overlap, such as not receiving any more information being an early sign of rejection.

Vandy and UVA so far but rejected by Yale SCEA

Less than 24 hours everyone! <3
So anxious but ultimately ready for whatever happens.
Best of luck to all. Let’s remember that a single college admissions decision does not define us, nor does it determine the heights we will reach in life. We live in a country where hard work pays out, so hold on to hope and remain steadfast through all adversity and uncertainty.

Im not gonna get in so no pressure for me
