Caliboi - will you be majoring in Political science with an international relations focus or peace studies? I know ND has been criticized for not officially having an IR major, but I was curious what your listed intent referred to.

How it works is you're a poly sci major with a concentration in IR. When you get past the basics you take mostly IR classes, and you can direct your research towards IR.

just remember everyone, sat IIs are only considered for a few majors, not most. (i'm just saying this because everyone's posting sat II scores). by the way, does anyone know what the overall EA acceptance rate was from last year? ... still haven't gotten my letter yet in San Francisco

what majors?

i'm in chicago and i didnt get any letter today...which kind of worries me because everyone I know got a letter today of some kind

im pretty sure the acceptance rate was ~60 percent..
i know it was the highest in the country

USNews thought it was an advantage when they posted this, but they way the counselors make it sound, its harder to get in if you apply EA..
so i waited to RD

im regretting it now, because i wish i knew haha

I think ND has one of the higher EA acceptance rates because of the desire of the applicants. I think that except for like HYPSM, Notre Dame is probably one of the biggest "dream schools" for a lot of kids. I think this shows through on a lot of applications. They aren't weary to accept kids because they know that a lot will actually matriculate, even from EA. That is one of the stats they always quote: "We're one of the few schools that accept less than half our applicants and then more than half of the admitted class enrolls."

I'm kinda stressing out because im in Phoenix, has anyone on the west coast received their letters? And to all those who have, are the differals letters and the acceptances packages? I have heard that is typically the case and when I am waiting by the mailbox tommorrow it would be nice to know without opening the package...

The acceptance package is just a big plain white envelope (with a University of Notre Dame return address), with a big blue folder inside that says "Welcome Home" on the front

Don't worry, I'm 2 hours away from ND and still didn't get my letter.

You don't actually need SATII's to apply to ND. It doesn't matter what your intended major is, especially since you aren't applying to a specific college anyway, you are applying to the First Year of Studies. But if you send them in, they are definitely considered, so its good that people are posting them here.

Also, the 60% acceptance rate for EA is because it's a self-selecting pool. ND lets people know that if they aren't the cream of the crop, they shouldn't bother applying EA, so most of the people who would be rejected wait until RD to apply.

Does anyone if we can call tomorrow morning to find out if we were accepted/deferred/rejected? Someone said Georgetown does...

I dont think so because when I called last week they told me thay they werent even sending letters until Monday, lies obviously, but they said to call only if i hadnt received my letter my wednesday. I think they are trying to avoid people freaking out to them so soon... but if there is i would love to know who i can call...
