where did you read that acceptance rate was around 60%? I couldn't find it on USNews. On that note, does anyone know the numbers on how many were accepted/deferred/rejected? I'd also by curious to know how many of those deferred are usually accepted RD.

the acceptance rate is for sure not 60%. Last year it was low 30's and the number of applications rose by 11.5% for EA this year. That will probably bring the acceptance rate for EA below 30%. So... I still think many of us made the right choice by sticking with what our couselors said and going RD.

It can't hurt to apply early. Even if deferred you are not prejudiced in the RD pool. At least that is what my daughter is hoping!!

Yeah, but ND deferred something like 43 kids last year, if I remember correctly. Besides that, all the ones who weren't accepted were rejected. It "kills" your application, so to speak, if you don't get in EA. I'm seriously contemplating now whether applying EA was a good choice...2120 SAT's just don't cut it for EA apparently.

when do we think this letter will get to florida? Anyone received one yet in the sunshine state?

Hey guys, I just wanted to congratulate everyone who got in EA this year!! It's probably going to be the smartest class yet (it always is), and you guys should all be really proud :-)

I'm a freshman at ND this year, and I absolutely love it. I can't tell you how happy I am with the decision I made to come here. I hope you guys choose to come here (because obviously it's the best school, regardless of our football record this year)

Let me know if you have any questions. You can send me a message or IM me - my screen name is lksoccer11nd.
yeah i thought a 2150 was solid but now im second guessing that

That USNWR chart is not correct. Here's a portion of an article from the Observer last January, talking about the last EA class -- only 35% were admitted.

Christmas arrived early for approximately 1,340 high school seniors worldwide who applied to join the Notre Dame class of 2011. These individuals were among the 35 percent of candidates selected from a pool of 3,812 applications considered for Early Action Admission by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions this winter.

Under Notre Dame's non-binding Early Action admissions procedure, high school seniors must submit a completed application to the University by Nov. 1, and can expect a notification of either admit, defer, or deny by Dec. 1.

1,575 applications - or 41 percent of the pool - were denied admission, and 680 were deferred to the regular decision round. Students admitted under Early Action have until May 1 to notify the University if they plan to attend or not.

I am desperately trying not to open my son's big white envelope from Notre Dame, so he can when he gets home from school. They paid $1.65 to mail it, it has a window envelope I have been trying to peer down without opening the envelope, and it feels like there is something like a folder inside. I'm hoping a deferral or rejection would be smaller. Pathetic, I know.
