Official ED II Thread

I applied to American but GW is also my top pick. Does anyone know how many days in advance GW sends the email saying when they will be posting decisions?

For ED 1 they sent it out the day before

Yeah, I applied to Georgetown EA as well but GW is my #1 right now

So I applied ED2 to SMPA at GWU and I was wondering if anyone knew whether GW would give me a decision on the normal college on the same date if I am denied from SMPA. If anyone has any insight, or experience, on this issue I’d love to hear.

@Prettyaverage: Yes, if you’re denied from the SMPA program, there’s still a chance you can be put into the College of Arts and Sciences.

@prettyaverage I applied to SMPA EDI and I got a call a few weeks before saying that it didn’t look like I was going to be admitted to SMPA but if I still wanted to be considered for the Columbian College for ED then I would have to send an email so that it was in writing, I think they have to do that so your not bound to a program that you didn’t originally apply for. I ended up getting into CCAS.

@SamiLane13 was the decision still binding or no?

@SamiLaine13 If I haven’t received any notifications do you think that I should be proactive and send them a message now to let them know I would be interested in CCAS? It is a little late as notifications come back in the next couple of days, but maybe worth it.

I just read this and thought it may be of interest to my fellow EDIIers. This is from a GW Hatchet article titled “GW sees applications drop by roughly 3,000” that was published this afternoon (link below).

"The number of Early Decision applications also fell from a total of 2,157 last year to 1,106, the University announced Monday.

[…]

Laurie Koehler, GW’s senior associate provost for enrollment management, said in October that the change could also mean less selectivity for the incoming class. The University has admitted about 33 percent of applicants for the last three years."

http://blogs.gwhatchet.com/newsroom/2014/02/03/gw-sees-applications-drop-by-roughly-3000/?utm_content=buffer2de5c&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer</a>

@Sammypurple I definitely did read about the expectation that application numbers would drop, last year. I’m hoping the overall acceptance rate will remain over ~33%, but that may be unlikely with the application numbers and the amount of students they would need to matriculate for their class size.

Nevertheless, I think a good number of students have already matriculated through the EDI process, and hopefully the numbers will be good for the EDII section.

“the change could also mean less selectivity for the incoming class”

Wait, does that mean it’ll be easier to get in this year because there a fewer applicants or what???

Also, someone should call and ask if they could get an exact date when the admissions decisions will come out?

@siggyfreud I took that line to mean that the acceptance rate may end up being higher because of the decrease in applicants. It may be easier to get in because there is less competition similar to how the ED acceptance rate tends to be higher than regular decision.

Yeah, I interpreted it the same way–this appears to be good news, I guess, for us ED II applicants then. Ahhh only a few more daysssss

Just as a note to @siggyfreud: They will not inform you of when decisions will come out. We’ve had ED1 applicants constantly call and tweet them, and all they would tell us is to expect them “sometime during this week.”

Hey! you guys, I applied ED 2 too.
I called admissions yesterday, and the stupid guy said early February. I asked for a date? He said he doesn’t know.
I’m sorry, I’m just mad, I cant wait any longer. I’m so nervous, I can’t concentrate on school either.
This wait, especially these last few days are frustrating.
anybody received an email? We are already half way through the week
Also, the blog says that they expect to fill in 40% of then incoming class with ED?
Since 1102 were the ED applicants in total, does that mean with their expected class size- 2350. 940 students get accepted ? also, if i’m right 162 applicants will be denied? sorry, I know i’m over thinking this. I have turned into an obsessed freak.

@aishwarya96 They will probably be released Thursday or Friday (with a warning email tonight or tomorrow) based off the twitter post from last week. My suggestion is to relax. Panicking won’t help anything and will just keep you stressed out which is not good.

Thanks, hopefully.

The twitter post this week also said that they are still on target for sending out this week. I believe EDI came out on a Thursday, so probably tomorrow. Not much longer to wait! Good luck!

Yeah I’m trying not to think about it, I just constantly refresh my email on my phone ahahah waiting for the one that says when results will be available, I’m excited!!

…no one has heard anything, right? Just making sure
