<p>Has anyone in Florida gotten a letter yet?! I still haven’t gotten anything! IT’S KILLING ME! btw I applied Gallatin.</p>

<p>I live in Maryland. A friend who lives 10 min. away from me got her’s yesterday (a rejection).</p>

<p>After realizing that everyone else in my school who EDed to NYU got their letters yesterday, I spent all of school today unable to focus on anything else. I called my mother at school, and she told me the letter still hadn’t come today. But just now a neighbor rang my doorbell with a big envelope in her hand, saying it had been put into her mailbox instead.
Stupid USPS >:(</p>

<p>haha yeah i think my recommendations probly hurt me the most…now that i think about it. it reallllyy sux. but oh well. i mean its not as bad as getting rejected with a 2300 sat score lol cuz i only got an 1800. i still kinda had a feeling i would get in just cuz of the extra stuff i put in that would help my chances. but about my recs…one teacher, i found out wrote a half page generic one, and didnt mention what i told him to (which wouldve sounded really good–about me taking calculus 2, 3, and 4 and a CSU) and i couldnt believe his letter. i despise him now for what he did. and the other teacher was really lazy so he wrote a pretty bad one. being an english teacher, he wrote a ONE paragraph rec. and space it out or anything. </p>
<p>i now have great recommendations though. IF YOU NEED ADVICE…read ur teachers letters! tell them its for a scholarship and u need the letter, and u PROBABLY will! so its worth it…if you havent started your scholarship search.</p>

<p>Yeah I have a feeling i won’t get into NYU so I’m gonna apply to F.I.T parsons and Pratt. Might see you there then : )</p>
<p>babygrl, I think the 1190/1600 (I believe that’s what you had) is what killed you. Doubt recs is what prevented you from getting in.</p>
<p>@alice yea! you going for photo, because i heard pratt sucks for photo from a professor at NYU. Also i had a 3.0 GPA 1610 SATs which killed me, but i was kinda hoping to get in. I mean i made HUGE improvement in my GPA and i had my portfolio + i own my own photo business, have won scholarships, been accepted into a highly selective summer program at yale etc etc, but i guess grades and SATs count more then they should for a photo major…</p>

<p>they cant reject you for rec’s. They can only use it against you if it says bad things but if theyre generic, but your scores are adequate, you shouldve been fine. it was the scores</p>
<p>did people who got in get their packets in the mail or through ups? i still haven’t gotten anything but if it goes through ups i might end up getting something today bc ups doesn’t usually come till 6pm ish.</p>
