Official ED Thread Class of 2014

Can you apply ED to two colleges?

Yes. Just write about them both in the essay.

All:

My decision came up online today. I still haven’t received the letter.

My decision came out this morning…Got accepted ED in SCS… any one else who got in SCS?

nothing so far…

me either…

So, as far as sssssc getting accepted to 2 colleges under early decision…
From CMU website-“Under either Early Decision plan, all of the following apply:
Apply to only one college within the university”

Either CMU made an error showing 2 acceptances, made a special exception for you, or you misread it, or??? The admissions office does tend to be inconsistent. Sorry, bud, hard to trust someone with only 4 posts and a brand new member. No offense intended. Just don’t want all these other kids being tormented by other possibilities. It has got to be so hard to wait. I hope you all get in!!

Is it possible he applied to the interdisciplinary program, busdriver11?

Don’t know, Kev, he said H&SS and Tepper. Is that is an interdisciplinary program? I don’t know.

The CMU admissions office seems to do strange things sometimes…different than they say in the instructions. So it does make you wonder what they are doing! They seem inconsistent and it is always worth calling them up and clarifying.

Yes. It happens to be that I am applying to an interdisciplinary program between H&SS and Tepper: Economics and Statistics. However, I have asked students at Carnegie Mellon and they have told me to apply to H&SS. I also looked on the website for this program, and it says to contact a certain professor if this is your intended major. I’m not sure if this helps though.

Sorry for the confusion. I applied for the interdisciplinary Economics program between Tepper and H&SS. I wrote about both. On the Where I am in the Process page, it lists the acceptance next to the College of H&SS only.

sssssc did you apply for Economics & Statistics?

No. Just the Undergraduate Economics Program. For the major, I only selected Economics.

It is confusing… my son is majoring in economics (possible CS minor) but in H&SS, though alot of the classes are in Tepper. You definitely DO NOT need to be accepted to both Tepper and H&SS to major in economics, you apply under the H&SS dept but it is jointly awarded by both departments.

Thanks for clarifying, sssssc. I was confused. Congratulations to you, you must be so happy!

SCS Class of 2014, Baby!!

Does accept mean that you have been accepted? It was written accept on the decision colomn of the college preferences on my “Where are you in the process site?”. Thanks.

@Gege101: If you can’t figure this one out, maybe you shouldn’t have been accepted >.<

I hope they don’t send out rejections last… :(

I have a bad feeling about this. :/

Same here…everyone so far got accepted or deffered.
