Official European History AP Exam Discussion 2010

DBQ was difficult since, like everyone else said on here, it was difficult to divide. It took me an hour to write it. I picked number 4 and 5. 4 - kinda hard to come up with topics for body paragraph. 5 - kinda screwed up on historical facts on Russia. 9 on the DBQ and 6-7 on the two essays. I wish I had more time to study for the subject.

MC - moderate. It wasn’t that hard and there was questions I had to logically guess.

It seems like a lot of people I talked to and a lot of posters on this thread picked 4 and 7. I thought they were the easiest ones. 7 one was a bit more challenging than 4, but I think I got around 6+ for both.

7 was my second choice for Part C.

I definitely over studied… killed both MC and FRQ (4 and 7)
I wish it would have been harder I was kind of bored :D

I tend to have trouble asessing my own work, but I really don’t think I did well. I wasn’t as prepared for it as I would have liked to be - I took both US and Euro today (not a good move for me), and ended up taking too much time studying for US, and not enough for Euro. I was terrified that I would just stare at the FRQs and not know what any of them were talking about in any way, so I was pretty happy to be able to write SOMETHING, even if it sucked.

I thought the MC was a lot harder than other practice tests I’ve tried - I was only completely sure about 30 of them, eeesh. But I was able to at least narrow down the choices for almost all of them, so I’m hoping I guessed right for a good number of them.

The DBQ wasn’t awful, I’ve done once I thought were harder. It just felt kind of weird, and was hard to organize. I did the topic as an FRQ this year, and I liked writing it that way a lot more. I had a lot of background knowledge, but couldn’t come up with a way to work it in with my organization for the documents, so I left most of it out. Not great, but it could have been worse.

The FRQs…oh dear. I didn’t feel good about any of the choices for B, so I ended up BSing 4, I couldn’t come up with much to say, so I basically wrote a lot of off topic stuff and tried to twist it into seeming on topic…not pretty. 7 was much better, but although I could come up with a lot of information on the topic, I had trouble organizing it to answer the question, and I’m a little afraid I didn’t address all the parts thoroughly enough.

On the bright side, I just Xed out of the two Euro study guides that were open on my computer for good, and that felt great :)

7 was also my 2nd choice for Part C. I couldn’t answer all parts of the question for both historical figures, so I was better off doing #5.

ME TOO! I actually over prepared for Euro, and didn’t study enough for US, but I didn’t need to because the US exam was relatively “easy”. You should post on [this thread](US/Euro Double - AP Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums) to give your thoughts about taking both exams.

Yeah, I had a bunch of tabs open on my computer since I was up late cramming. It felt awesome to close them and end that chapter of my academic career.

i thought the mc was pretty easy except for like 5 questions. i didnt like the frqs tho.

I also wrote essays 4 and 7. 4 was pretty bad because I was really, really vague, but 7 was decent.

Didn’t like the DBQ - although the topic was good, I found the documents more difficult to group than usual. As long the reader accepts my grouping, I think I’ll get some expanded core points.

I didn’t really know what they were looking for with essay #4, they could have been a tad bit more specific, but I still think I did alright.

Just a question. What was your grouping?
I was utterly confused, but somehow managed:

1) Accusers - Internal Factors (i.e. Incapable gov’t, Over-anxiousness)
2) Accusers - External/Inevitable Factors (i.e. Natural consequence, Psychological fact)
3) Defenders - Freedoms are Good! (i.e. Hitler’s speech, Women’s rights)

Points of view:

1) Conservative - Spoke out against people’s inability to consider inaction; narrowmindedness, need for change. This is bias b/c conservatives are generally opposed to change, which upsets the traditional order. Also, he was a military general.

2) Hitler - Defended the Republic. The document was an election speech, I believe, and thus, he wanted to make himself look good; Also, he was a member of the Social Democratic Party, so thus, he defended it.

3) Can’t remember.

Come to think of it, I think I might’ve done better than I originally thought on the DBQ.

Has anyone actually heard of someone who didn’t choose #7?

Most of the people in my class did 3 and 7. The DBQ was really confusing for me and I wasn’t really sure if my groupings were correct. For the MC, I thought the crash course helped a lot.

I didn’t do #7.

I really messed up the FRQs. I picked 4 and 7 (like most people). I didn’t go into much detail, even though I had time. My first FRQ was about two thirds of a page and my second was one page… Some people’s FRQs are longer than my DBQ (I wrote about 3 and a half pages).

Would writing that little hurt my score?

When you look at past FRQ samples on AP Central, people have gotten 9s with 2 pages for an FRQ.

Does double spacing or having a big gap between paragraphs hurt your score? I had like a 2-4 line gap between a paragraph in number 3 since I was hoping to finish the section later.

Haha practically everyone in my class did 4 and 7. I actually liked 4; it was a general topic and there was a large pool of evidence to choose from.
The second set of FRQs was pretty stupid… 7 was easy to bs but I would have rather discussed just one of the thinkers in greater detail

The DBQ was rough? Ouch…

I took the test last year, and the 2009 DBQ was absolutely amazing :3

Not trying to at stuck up but the DBQ really wasn’t hard at all. No one in my class thought it was. The topic was very well-known and something that everyone should have studied
