Rejected
Accepted! This is crazy, I got into both schools that I used one professor for.
Could everyone regardless if they have been accepted, rejected, or waitlisted post their admission stats please.
Rejected from Trinity. Congrats to all of those who’ve been accepted!!
@brilliant21
ACT: 36, GPA: 3.73, EC: Finance clubs and internship, club sport
Rejected
Accepted! First time on the other side of CC.
Rejected from Trinity Economics Major.
@Iniesta15 what were your admission statistics for college and high school?
Transferred from UNC-CH
GPA: 3.86 (I actually took two courses at UNC in high school that brought my GPA down)
ACT: 35
If you really want more details PM me. But I think in general the main difference was that I knew more solidly what I wanted in terms of college, and made that clear.
Accepted. Junior Transfer Econ Major.
GPA: 4.0/4.0
SAT: 1560
In Duke’s essay I wrote about my cross-cultural experience in Canada, China and Japan, and how I utilized my multi-lingual ability to bridge cultural gaps. In my why essay I wrote about how Duke’s econ department helps me with my research in building up grounded econ models that apply to different nations.
PS: In JHU thread I mistakenly wrote my SAT as 1540. Not important though.
Accepted Stats:
GPA: 3.95
SAT: 1520
ACT: 34
Great exs, recs, etc. Essay was pretty meh.
And like @Iniesta15 I’m from UNC.
According to the Common Data Set, a very slim amount of the women accepted as transfers attend (versus the men). Any reason why?
Accepted from UVa, Trinity
I know this is a little late but here it is anyway.
Accepted to trinity for chemistry as a rising sophomore. Duke has always been my dream school, I applied ED as a freshman and was deferred and then rejected. Then I applied to transfer and was accepted, but they didn’t give me enough financial aid unfortunately. Looks like I will be attending Northwestern University instead.
These are my stats:
College: Top 20 public university
Current major: Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
HS GPA weighted and unweighted: 5.02, 4.0
College GPA: 4.0
ACT: 34 (super score 35: R36 M35 S35 E35)
SAT subject tests: CHEM 800, MATH II 800
AP Classes: 10 classes (nine 5s and one 4)
Recs: Did not know the instructors well but my grade in their class was very good - Interpret that how you please.
Outside class: Religious organization and chemical engineering related clubs.
Essays: Very good in my opinion.
Still waiting on Upenn (May 15th at 5:00 PM) but I don’t think they will be any more generous than Duke. I am still shocked that I was accepted to my dream school. Hope this helps.
Waitlisted for soph transfer, Trinity math major. Can anyone recommend what to do? Thanks
@ebitda9 What do you mean what can you do? There isn’t anything you can do other than to be patient.
I will say though that the current Duke transfer group is pretty small (much less than the accepted 50), so I’d say there are certainly people who turned/will turn down Duke’s offer. Keep in mind accept/decline goes till June 4th.
@twenty20 Hi! i got in from vanderbilt also and I’m still deciding if I will be transferring to Duke. Are you definitely going to Duke>
Hi! I’m a rising freshman at UC Berkeley and wants to re-try Duke Trinity(as a transfer applicant) next year.
Anyone has any suggestions/tips about class choice, essays, ECs in college, etc.? Thanks!
