Official February 2012 ACT Discussion Thread

@Cheesecakke its 2.5 weeks online MC, writing takes up to 8 weeks

@inTheo Unfortunately I was not one of those test-takers, and I only knew a few that were (not too many juniors take the act october and then take it december of senior year) but it really was unfair. The other bad thing is that once I found out, I knew the “curve” wouldn’t be too generous, because if it was then the ACT would not have reused this particular test.

I’m pretty sure it increases, Iris. As the projectile travels up the tower, the length of the circuit becomes longer because the source was at the bottom where the projectile originally started.

I put increase/increase as well for the same reason^.

Oh noes, I missed one for sure on science now.
-sigh-

How was the curve in the december ACT?

for science i believe it was increase/increase because it said on the rail or whatever. The length of the rail increased. I wasn’t too sure for that one. and was the metal a conductor?

@GReenmamba20

That’s what I put.

I said it was a conductor… Otherwise it would not make sense to me that it would be a working circuit, or that it would proceed up the rail.

Greenmamba,

I said it was a conductor.

For the Dec test the math and english curves sucked. The reading was normal and science was amazing

How did you guys answer the ramp question?

Putting triangles on ramp, touching all 3 sides…
In order to buy a weather covert sheet(?), the area outside is…

I had no idea. I didn’t see any measurements at all.

i got 11. basically it was asking for twice the area of the triangle… confusing wording though.

Iris do u remember the principal’s salary question in the math section. Was it 94000/5 times 47 or whatever

HopefulDawg,

That’s what I put.

Oh, I remeber the salary

I believe it was

$total

week(day)

@kamzarro, how did you find out the area of the triangle?
I couldn’t even find out the length of the triangle…

i think so, hopefuldawg… it was E

ight sweet thank you

I didn’t see any measurements for the triangle/ramp problem either. I read that question like 5 times.

@hopefuldawg yeah sci on December I must’ve missed 3+, yet got a 33. Hopefully the curve is just as good this time around.

English - moderate -6?
Math - easy -1/2
Reading - moderate-easy -3?
Science - OH MUYYY GAWDD that was impossible… I think I literally might have missed like 9!!!

yeah i had to read the triangle ramp q like 10 times before i was like OH, they just want the area of the triangle X 2. it was 11, i’m pretty sure…

also for the science ones being discussed, i agree with the consensus about increase/increase and conductor
