how well of a prediction on my SAT is my sophomore PSAT score?
I remember very closely I wrote: “The society in the book Anthem is grounded in the concept of equality and collectivism. The totalitarian government restricts all expression of ego, including the word “I”. This results in the selfless attitude of its citizens and the oppression of progressivism. One citizen, Equality 7-2521, possesses a more avant-garde and inquisitive perspective, questioning the equality of the society. His revolutionary ideas are dismissed by authorities due to their reluctance towards change.” and then went on to analyze how the loyalty of the citizens to the higher power prevented change in philosphies. Man I hope I was this clear when I wrote it today.
@solaireofastora If you have the money, you should apply to princeton. There’s no harm done in trying, and you would have at least tried. There’s a 100% chance of not getting in if you never apply
in the first half of my first body paragraph I rambled a bit about the persons background who I was writing about, is that bad? It didnt cause me to skimp on relating it to the topic, my paragraph was just rather long, but Im just wondering it me talking about a lot is bad in and of itself.
I’m applying to like 20 diff colleges half around me half west coast. Might apply to Standford/Harvard just to make a bs essay for the hell
@solaireofastora especially for the sophomore one, it is not a good indicator- I got a 194 on my Junior PSAT and on this, my first real SAT, i’m predicting at least a 2100
@TheSATsSuck my GPA is not even close to good enough, I haven’t checked it exactly but I don’t have straight As or even close, but if I get actually by some miracle of God get a 2200 maybe Ill consider it.
If only applying wasn’t so expensive : /
@Nutmmeg ok good, I only got 169 on my sophomore, didnt take one this year though
@SimpleBio won’t that be really expensive?
@solaireofastora I think its fine to have big paragraphs as long as you have a somewhat balanced blend of analysis and summary. Too much summary is bad but as long as you stood your stance you should be fine
big paragraphs are fine as long as they show good organization and varied arguments/examples
@SimpleBio what do you mean by summary? My summary of what I said in the paragraph was brief, like one sentence, but my background on the guy I wrote about it in the first paragraph was 3/4 sentences, and the other 4/5 was me relating it to the prompt.
I personally don’t think the psat is a good indicator of sat scores. I got a 221 on my psat in October and I know I’m nowhere near that now. I guess I just got extremely lucky. It can be the other way around too. I hear stories of people getting low psat scores but really high sat scores
@solaireofastora Yes. Exaggerating when I say 20 but probably a lot. My Dad wants me to apply to a lot of school here and there. He lives in California and told me to apply to a couple. UCDavis, Temple, Pennstatemain, Drexel, and some other places. Not even sure what I want to do.
I want to do pre dental
@solaireofastora You should be fine.
@solaireofastora if you want to do pre dental have you considered penn?
I need something to do to prep for CR for next SAT. Not sure what exactly to do for vocab right now.
@Nutmmeg Penn State? Idk I don’t like the school enough to justify going out of state
@solaireofastora no University of Pennsylvania
