@Nutmmeg thank you! these vids are useful?
One tip that I have found extremely helpful for me on the CR sections is to read the questions before reading the passages and underlining any line numbers. That way you can skip some parts if you are absolutely running out of time and you will actually know which lines and what context is the most vital to answering the questions.
If the line number is one of those “what does blank word most closely mean” then I immediately read it an answer it and then mark it to go back later to in case the meaning becomes slightly altered after reading the entire passage.
I always leave the general questions (what is the purpose of this passage, what is the author’s main point blah blah blah) last because by the time you’ve read the entire passage with focus on the underlined sentences, you have a pretty good idea of general concepts.
Also for tone questions I find that for me I go through the answer choices and I read the sentence in my head in the tone of the answer choice- eg. if the choice was expasperated, I would read in a really frustrated voice in my head and see if it feels/ makes sense.
Wow that was much longer than intended. I am by no means a SAT expert in any way, just thought I’d share my own approach to CR…
@SimpleBio its really just awful, ill never forget the countless nights Ive spent in my room trying to understand something, then finally thinking I understand it, and then taking the test and not knowing how to apply what I “know” to the questions because theyre totally different from the ones we get for practice in class and for HW
ive just never been this ashamed of myself or this stressed about any class in my life, its just all so overwhelming
I haven’t seen them all but i found the one where he swings on the pendulum to be useful
which question used the vocab word “Indelible”?
What question was answered with “skepticism”? It was a movie one I think
on the front of the sheet I forgot our home phone number so I wrote my moms cell
thats ok right?
when do you think we will get our scores?
what will the curve be like?
and what do you think -4 and 8 essay on writing is?
@ihatesatsm probably around a 680
i heard we are getting our scores back same as everyone else on the 12th… is that even possible??
@ihatesatsm where did you hear that?
Guys how do I cancel this test. What would I put for the test date
my mom said it was on the news and theyre releasig all the scores at the same time because they can’t delay anything
It clearly states on the email and letter I received that scores would be available “about two weeks after a makeup administration”. Looking over previous SAT makeup threads, it looks like scores were available about 17 days after taking the makeup test. So…I am guessing Feb. 24?
What question numbers were the “no error” ones in the writing section?
@TheSATsSuck how did you manage a 221 on psat?
@dreambig2018 sounds about right
@SimpleBio I honestly have no idea. We got a practice psat from our school to take home and I got a 176. I just got lucky because I guessed a lot and answered every question
