Official Fordham 2013 Transfer Thread

So have you gotten into Fordham?

fordham has a great transfer rate, due to the great transfer-out rate. I, myself, have transferred out along with the rest of my friends. A friend of mine worked at the admissions office at Mount Holyoke and while she didn’t count it, she saw enough to notice that there was a huge amount of transfer applications from Fordham. I’m writing this to both inform you guys your chances, and as a warning sign of how an unusual amount of people are unhappy students there.

Could you elaborate, why are so many people unhappy? Is their a general theme?

What he said^ I am trying to research it. I want to go there for the finance program. If I don’t get swayed not to attend I hope to be able to participate in the student managed investment fund, though now that I think about it I don’t even know how that works( being able to participate). Would you know about to get good internships at fordham? Like my current school they just have me look for an internship, and then their site is full of “fake” internships. Im really desperate for those internships because I literally don’t know anything about finance except what my friend teaches me when he’s not working and what I learned in my accounting class. I am hoping fordham will seal those gaps.

I’ll answer your questions the only way I can which is through my own experiences at the Fordham Lincoln Center campus. I transferred for almost every reason you can think of: financial, social, academic, and the lack of resources offered at the college. There’s a disconnect in the student community where it seems people are more invested in nightlife clubbing rather than their studies. The small class sizes were what appealed to me most when I initially attended, but know that small class sizes full of indifferent, some even ignorant, students makes for mind-numbing conversations. In terms of internships, NYC is a great place to be going to school if you want to study meantime work. But the school will NOT help you land internships–you pretty much have to fend for yourself there. I haven’t heard of the finances department in my time there, no less, their strength in finances. Fordham’s known for its law school and it seems that the school pool most of its resources on the law school, making the rest of its departments subpar.

CallMeSir, Did you get it? If so, do you like it there?
