Well, I assume its for fall cause it doesn’t say otherwise. Are you surprised because her ACT/SAT are lower? I must say that if you only read this website, where students claim to be disappointed to get “only 32 on ACT” , that you would think someone with a 25 wouldn’t get into any college anywhere! Seriously, after reading some posts on here, I was terrified. The admissions counselor said she had a good chance, though. Her good friend got in with a 25 ACT and only a 3.2 GPA (first generation college/overcame obstacles, though.)

If you log onto her application status, it will tell you.

You posted earlier that the admissions people told you she may get a summer admit. But yes, if so it would be due to test scores.

Alot of the kids who post on the Chance threads and SAT/ACT prep threads are focused on getting admitted to the Ivies and Top 20 schools.

Was she/he an URM?

Oh–also, several of her friends were defered, but she doesn’t know of any who applied for early decision who received out and out rejections.

It doesn’t say summer or fall, I just assumed its fall because that’s the norm?? I just copied this right from the page. LOL.

Admission Decision
Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you of your acceptance to The Florida State University.

University Condition of Admission: Receipt of official high school transcript, showing graduation date, and official college/university transcript(s) if dual enrolled. We will check for successful senior-year performance. Refer to Conditions of Admission in Enrollment Information.

I knew her test scores weren’t the greatest, and I was nervous, too, but she’s not ever going to bring up those math/science scores–her Reading was a 31 though! Ironically, I’m a science teacher and her dad is a math teacher.

I want to thank everyone on here for all the advice and helpful information. Oh, and her friend? Not sure what URM means? If its under-represented minority, no, he’s not. But he really has overcome some obstacles, his essay would make you cry. He had low grades his freshman year because of that, and brought them up substantially. Also, he’s a first generation college student.

It says the year and term in the section entitled Application Information. If that says Fall 2011 and the Admissions decision doesn’t say otherwise, then it is Fall 2011. Congrats!

It does, thanks. I would have been fine with summer, and so would she, but she has a job here that she can work in longer!

You have no way of knowing this from this thread.

Yeah, I really don’t see how you can jump to that conclusion… A lot of people deferred and/or rejected (I know some of both) won’t post because they’re too busy crying or just not confident enough.

^^^very true!

Of 6 friends, my son and one other accepted. 4 others deferred.
