Great, thanks again.

So I did the same thing as @Enthouse and submitted a photo id because that’s what I was told to do in order to verify that I am who I say I am. They said they would call me for confirmation. I did this two weeks ago and haven’t received a call. Does anyone know an easier way to access/activate your Buzzport account to check if they received all my application materials?

Where do we get admissions decisions in January? Is it by email or somewhere on Buzzport?

Buzzport

Hi… I applied EA and I’m super stressed about getting in. To sum it up: I am a white female from GA. I have a cumulative 1790 and 28 on SAT and ACT. 620 math and 28 math. I know those are on the low end but my GT calculated GPA is 3.98 and I’ve taken the most difficult math and science classes offered at my school. My essay was unique and looked at by my lit teachers. I have many EC: piano for 10+ years, volleyball varsity 3 years, soccer varsity 4 years (plus since I was 4), I have volunteered with church band for 5 hrs a week/all year for 5 years and I have taught Sunday school as a paid job for 5 years. I’m in NHS and senior representative in SGA. I volunteer at horse stable most Saturdays. I have received many awards for grades and sports. I also have 2 recs from outside sources that are alumni of tech (one of them a large donor) if that means anything… that’s all I can think of at the moment. Someone please chance me??

50% chance, could go either way because of test scores

Hey guys! I applied EA, and I was just wondering what my chances were to receive admission. I am black/asian from out of state. I have a 33 on the ACT and a 3.4 UW GPA, but 4.14 W. I’m in the IB program, and have taken the highest course rigor available at my school. My essays and recommendation letters are very strong, and I know that they will undoubtedly help me. For extracurriculars, I have 4 years of playing tennis, 3 years varsity, as well as attending the state competition. I am also a DECA State Officer, in a state which have over 8,000 members. I also started my own Non-Profit Organization, that spreads Indian dance and culture. I have raised over $15,000 for female empowerment. I am a 4 year and varsity member of Speech and Debate and Model UN at my school, and I have won multiple awards at conferences for both. I am also a member of NHS and a club called Students Advocating Change, which educates the school about global issues and then raises funds for these issues. I have also been the president for 4 years of the youth committee of a cultural association in my state, which has helped host multiple events. I have also volunteered in India and Africa and have accumulated 160 hours between the two. Finally, I started a chess club at the local middle school.

If somebody could please chance me I’d be very appreciative, if anybody wants my opinion, feel free to ask I’d be more than happy to help, thank you!

Mere, in my opinion you have a bit higher than a 50/50 chance, good luck to you!

@keagle23 I’d say you have a pretty solid chance.

Wait I thought the merit scholarship app was separate and that this application was availae on 1 Nov on their website?

I think you are automatically considered for scholarships by just applying.

My SAT writing was 10, but my ACT was 7… I think because I sent in my ACT first GATech automatically took that in as their only writing score, at least that’s what Buzzport shows…should I email them and ask about it or is it unnecessary?

I don’t think the merit scholarships are automatic. I saw there is a separate application on their website and the deadline is coming up 15 December!

Can someone link to the scholarship application please?

Don’t have it handy but go to their admissions page and follow the links for freshman and financial aid.

Oh wait. Think that’s the Presidential Scholarship? 3.5 GPA and National Merit to qualify?

Some scholarships like Provost are automatically considered during the admission phase and no further application is needed. Other scholarships have separate applications and you should be mindful of those deadlines. I haven’t check the website this year but in the past separate scholarship applications are necessary for scholarships such as the Presidential; FIRST Robotics; Gouizetta (sp?) and GT Alumni Club scholarships. I especially encourage you to look to see if there is a local GT alumni club in your area. Tech provides 50% of the funding for those scholarships so you submit your application on GT’s website and then they forward it to the local alumni club. It isn’t too tough and awards range from $1K to $5K.

Review the financial aid/scholarship page on Tech’s website for further info.

From the GT PSS website:

To ensure consideration for the President’s Scholarship Program, potential first-year students should apply for admission to Georgia Tech by the early action deadline (October 15, 2014). There is no additional application used to determine semifinalists. Transfer applicants are not eligible; applicants must also be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or citizens of the United Kingdom to be considered.

Does anyone know how many people applied early action? Do you think there’s more this year than last year?

Apparently, this year there were 11600 early applicants. Last year, there were over 12000.
