**Official** Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Movie Thread(Warning: Spoilers!!!!)

I found the movie rather dull. Pity since it was my favorite book out of the series. I would demand a refund, but Hermione made it partially worth it.

watched it just today...

overall, i think it was a great movie. at least better than the other three. those were kind of hard to understand unless you read the book (i did, btw). but this one, it was in a whole new perspective, which was very interesting. it was refreshing in its own way.

and to the negative sides:
like most people here say, the movie missed out on a lot of things that were mentioned in the book. it even added bits that didn't even happen. but seriously, people. do you REALLY think that thick book can fit into a 2 hours and a half movie? not being able to see dobby and winky was kind of disappointing, though. they missed the whole part about ron getting mad about leprechaun golds, and yes, the quidditch match? they didn't even throw the quaffle, which was a bit too much.

maybe more because the book was too long, i felt this rush as i watched the movie. things happened too quickly, to be honest. it doesn't even mention hagrid being a half giant, which is a pretty big thing on the next book.

voldemort was far from what i had expected, and i still don't get why hermionie cried after the yule ball. really! why? and the whole 'you told me about the dragon no i didn't who what what are you talking about' thing was totally confusing.

oh yeah. cedric diggory is such a hottie <3

When Cedric walked out, the entire theatre sighed really really loudley. Well, all of the girls. It was pretty hilarious. And the guy I was sitting next to thought Hermione was "hella fine"...which I thought was weird until all of my other guy friends told me how hot she was. I guess she is pretty, but I still think of her as bushy-haired Hermione.

I don't know, but the new Dumbledore doesn't seem as good. Maybe I just have to get used to him..

I still liked the 3rd one better, but this one was pretty good, too... I have to re-read the book (which I'm doing now)

dumbledore was pretty scary, if you ask me.

no the new dumbledore is SO much better. The old one sounded so pathetic...how can you be the world's most powerful wizard if you can't even speak clearly? But I guess it's reasonable since I heard the actor was really sick. Still, this one had a clear, affirmative voice, which I think is characteristic of Dumbledore.

I still thought the movie was pretty bad...but I thought it was going to be bad anyway and it was actually better than I thought. Hermione is pretty hot but not as hot as Fleur. Cho Chang was pretty disappointing

Yeah I have issues with Dumbledore in this one. I don't know who decided to make him sort of mean in this one, but it wasn't a good choice. He's always so calm in the books, it just doesn't make sense.

You're bang on about the second Dumbledore, Michael Gambon. No disrespect to Richard Harris, but he always sounded too decrepit and/or sanctimonious to be the eccentric Hogwarts headmaster. Gambon has more of that mysterious vitality and mischievousness that Dumbledore's supposed to have.

I thought the movie was topsy-turvy in its portrayal of the main female characters in GoF. Cho and Fleur, who are supposed to be drop dead gorgeous, are merely average, while Plain Jane Hermione is anything but.

With all the pretty Oriental girls they could have picked from

"Asian" is so much more polite and un-colonial than "Oriental". Nobody uses "coloured" or "Negro" anymore, so let's let "Oriental" die out as well.

ehh, I think I'd prefer old and frail to loud and angry... loud and angry makes him seem less... 'special'. When he was calm and serene he had that unique aspect... I can't find the right word, but you know.. right? :p

I think the first Dumbledore had the "wisdom" part of the character down pat, while the second concentrated on vivacity. We need to smoosh them together to get the perfect actor (yes, I said smoosh).

yeah... they should've had me play Cho ;)

My chief complaints about the movie:
-Barty Crouch Jr. was never killed! They also never went into how his father smuggled him out of Azkaban.
-No Quidditch World Cup
-No Winky/Dobby
-No meeting Sirius as a dog at Hogsmeade
-They never really went into the Hermione/Rita Skeeter conflict.
-They don't give the impression that Snape is evil.
-No blast ended skrewts
-The maze scene was different

Overall thought it was enjoyable, but it didn't seem that long. I honestly wouldn't have minded if it was 5 hours, if it up the above in.

I kinda wish JK would write the screenplays too..........Or at least someone who's a bigger HP fan. I think they hired someone, then made them read the books or something.

i think cho is pretty cute looking. there are so many hate websites for her...even in korea///

you mean she's not even Chinese?

Yea I wished the maze scene was longer... it just seemed so exciting and dangerous in the book

no, she's a chinese born in scotland. what i meant to say was even in countries that have nothing to do with katie leung, there are hate sites.

oh that sucks...
I mean she isn't GORGEOUS enough for both Harry and Cedric to fall for her but I don't think she's bad looking... like you said... she is cute

Repulsive... And they wonder why girls are anorexic and pay thousands of dollars for plastic surgeries they do not need. Just because a girl's not exactly pretty enough there are HATE SITES?

yup. life's harsh.
