my GC, who used to work for the harvard admissions office and keeps in close contact with the office, claims that harvard likes to drag out its waitlist activity the longest. obviously, this year has proven to be very very different, but even in the past, when harvard has had around 10-20 spots, they like to drag things out. perhaps since there are so many spots this year, they want to move faster, but it just doesn't seem feasible. well i guess we'll see how things go tomorrow.

I am not sure what to think about the 144. All I know is that Harvard contacted my GC today and asked if I was still interested (and presumably checked my grades and such). HE told ME (meaning something could have been lost in translation from Harvard to him to me) that they are going to committee for Massachusetts tomorrow (Thursday). But the whole thing was weird. He is not my actual GC, hunted me down in the middle of class, and dragged me out without saying from the get-go that he did not have any actual information for me. He also said that they were checking in on the "couple" kids who were waitlisted, but there are/were 11 of us (unless some declined the offer, which is completely possible). He could have just meant that they are reviewing our applications and we are "maybes," if the 144 stat is true, or that nobody from the Mass region has been evaluated yet. I don't know anyone who has been accepted, have you? Sorry, I am frustrated with him being a jerk and this is obscenely long.

I GOT IN! My rep just called....I am so excited!!!!!!! I am definitely going! She was calling and my mom was on the phone ... we had no call waiting so she sent me an e-mail saying she couldn't get through. So, I found the email and said it wasn't too late to call and magic happened!!!!!

CONGRATS?!?! did you ask any of the detail questions that we've been waiting to be answered?

CONGRATS!!! Yessss Massachusetts holler back!

Congratulations inthezone, that's great news!!!

You got called at 10:30 at night? Wow.
Congrats!

probably not. in the zone justed checked the email late (?)

my mom was on the phone from 9 to 9:50 and we don't have call waiting :)
so, I checked my email at like 9:50 and I received an email from my admissions rep ... she was asking for a new number to reach me because she thought that my number on the application was incorrect. so, I emailed her explaining we don't have call waiting and she emailed back asking if its was too late to call and i was like ;sdfhpohsdf;lhad NOPE! and she called and I got in :)

Congrats, inthezone! Let's hope all the other cc'ers get their positive calls from Harvard tonight, too!

that's friggen amazing. congraaaaatttts!!!

Congratulations, you must be so excited! If you don't my asking, what state are you from?

Congratulations Inthezone!

Congrats!! That's really great!

Looks like they're still calling? (hopefully)

congrats... what a story
haha i doubt any more calls tonight.
so is tomorrow going to be a big day or no? watch it be anticlimatic

Maybe to find out what Harvard is going for, could people who have gotten off the waitlist maybe say what major they are, and like maybe gender and/or race...maybe there is a trend...hopefully its poly sci kids

The admissions officer who told my son he was admitted said that waitlist admittees wouldn't be able to access the admitted students web page until "Monday or so, after all the applicants admitted off the wait list had been informed."

So the next two days are the big ones for notifying waitlistees? Man, now I'm really nervous.

whoa what?! all the offers will be made by monday? this adds new credence to the 144 theory

would that imply that all applicants admitted of the wait list will know by "monday or so!?" 'cause that would be awesome...

EDIT: lol, ok i guess i was beaten to that guess... but seriously, whoa...
