quite to the contrary, being Jewish could hurt admissions chances, given the typically above average qualifications of most Jewish applicants.

uhh, most Harvard applicants are already "above average"

sunglasses-Being Jewish doesn't hurt admissions chances. Being white and middle to upper class (which many Jews are) means that you aren't going to get any help for being part of an underrepresented socioeconomic group.

There was a time when Harvard had a Jewish quota, but now Jews are in the same boat as white Protestants or Catholics or so on.

Umm...pardon my na

yeah, extracurriculars.

whoa...how did you reply so quickly?

i'm new to this "college confidential" website and do not know how it works exactly...

Welcome to the CC community! Read the threads, ask questions, learn about things and enjoy the talk!

If you don't mind...could you enlighten me on how you reply to my questions so quickly? I don't understand?

its a feature of the board. I posted here before so it subcribes me to it and everytime there is a new reply I get sent an email. I use msn so everytime I get an email I get a loud Ding so I can reply quickly if I'm not busy! Its in the settings you can change in your profile :)

That's very interesting...Thank you very much for your generosity in enlightening me...I need better responses or else people are going to tell me that I am very hackneyed, trite, and unoriginal! I don't want that.

ok speaking of those emails, they are annoying beyond belief, how do i un activate all of them (besides blocking cc) thanks all!

go to your preferences and set it so that new posts no longer trigger an email to your inbox

Ok, this question is kind of wierd, but would being kidnapped be a hook? Like turn it into some story of survival, of your inner strength, intelligence, confidence etc. Would that look good on an application? I've never been kidnapped and don't plan on doing so, but I was just wondering.

I am going to be choosing a career in Life Sciences. What about working in a vet hospital for 4.5 years to help the family with finances etc. Very good academic achievements but little or no ECs because I never had the time for them. It's unbelievable what I have learnt about veterinary prefession from medicine/science and business prespective. I am an east indian male who grew up in a village in India and have been a canadian citizen for 2 years.

This is hilarious.

Is moving 16 times a hook?

Yeah I have the same question, but i only moved like five times to five different countries.

I don't think that living in different countries is a hook. I lived in Europe for three years, but if that were a hook, then a lot of people would have it.

I lived in Europe too, but only for a couple of months. Europe sucks.
