Official Harvard RD 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Right now I feel a lot less nervous than before, I think because I’ve made peace with the fact that I’m not going to be accepted.

I have made peace with the realization that Im probably not going to be accepted. Don’t take that as being pessimistic take it as expecting the worst and hoping for the best. :)

If I am accepted, then I will throw myself a party. I am am not accepted, I will be fine.

I’m with successman. It’s the anxiety of not knowing, moreso than the answer.

I won’t get in, anyway.

This is the point at which I refuse to feel bad about my URM advantage… I’m hoping that’s what sends my decently strong application over the edge and gets me in! Luckily a likely letter from Columbia has made the wait a little more bearable… Best of luck to you all! (but not at the expense of my spot ;))

I am sorry, but I do not know what URM is. Can you please explain it to me? Also, what is a likely letter? Thank you for your answers and good luck :)

URM= Under-Represented Minority
A likely letter is essentially a college unofficially notifying you that you’re going to be accepted come admissions decisions. Colleges like to do this to get your attention first when they believe they have to compete with schools for your attendance.

I got a likely letter from Harvard, Yale, Duke, Princeton, and Cornell.

and then I woke up from my dream

thanks :)

So has anyone been able to access Harvard’s admitted student’s portal? I heard that only students who have already been accepted can login with their access code. Is it already up and running, or does it start working tomorrow at 5? If it’s already working, I can’t access it so I’ve been rejected…

can you post the link?

97% of us haven’t been accepted so it will take a while for someone to be able to access it.

wait so we get our decisions only through email and letter right? not on the application website?

just asking because when i tried to log on to the status check it said the site was unavailable for a few days and to check email

This is the link to the portal: [Harvard College Admissions § Application Status Login](http://collegeadmissions.fas.harvard.edu/admitted/login.cgi)
And yeah since the majority of us got rejected there probably won’t be many who can login. I just wanted to see if this was an indicator of our admissions decision…

This does not bode well…[Regular Admits May See 3% Acceptance Rate | News | The Harvard Crimson](Regular Admits May See 3% Acceptance Rate | News | The Harvard Crimson)

Well, are we sure that the code we had for application tracking is the same as the access code for that site? I feel like Harvard would include that in the decision e-mail, if it’s an acceptance. So that people can’t do what we’re all trying to do LOL

No I heard it’s the same access code! I just don’t think students for the class of 2016 have been officially added to the admitted students list for the portal until tomorrow at 5. I guess we’ll all just find out tomorrow haha. And a 3% acceptance rate is the scariest thing I’ve ever heard

^It’s the same, as confirmed by early action accepted applicants.

I’m going with the haven’t-been-added yet theory haha.

Of course it hasn’t been activated yet.
The Admitted Students website will only go live after decision emails are sent out - sit tight!
20 hours.
