Official Harvard RD 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

It amazes me that Harvard, an institution with such high standards can’t figure out how to send emails to students and advise them of their admission decision. I think it is really unfair to all of its bright applicants. How embarrassing for Harvard. I really hope all of you, the applicants get an answer soon. Good luck to everyone!

I think that the wait is a good sign.

is there a chance that I go to sleep now wake up in the morning and STILL not have an email? thats a scary thought

At first this message seemed ridiculous:

Each year, close to 5% of our emails bounce. If you do not receive the email, you may call the Admissions Office on Friday, March 30th to learn your decision. We reserve the right to provide the decision to the applicant and only the applicant.

Now I’m seriously considering the implications. They could keep us on edge for 24 hours. Just use a webpage like the rest of the civilized world, Harvard.

still no mail!!!

Let’s all say a prayer that we all get into Harvard!

No email here in Illinois. Today wasn’t too great of a day, I got rejected at Duke and Penn (I thought I definitely had a chance at Penn, I was really proud of my essay), and waitlisted at JHU (I was proud of those essays too). These were my first rejections and I really just want to get Harvard over with so I can be done. My chances aren’t looking too good and I don’t expect anything but a rejection, but I just want to see it with my own two eyes.

Can’t understand why they don’t send e-mail. Is it more productive to spend priceless time replying rejected over tell?

GUYS CHIN UP—I sincerely believe that the wait is a very good sign.

Can’t get into the admitted students portal. Guess I’ll be seeing a rejection email tomorrow morning.

could the wait still be a good sign, even if we can’t log into admitted students site?

I got into Darmouth, Brown and JHU yesterday. Waiting on Harvard is like waiting for Godot!

dudeecollege i sincerely hope so…i think a nice acceptance would be the perfect award for all this waiting. unfortunately i feel like the fact we cant log on to the portal is a really bad sign…

after 8-9 hours of waiting, I finally got my email.
I opened it to learn that I had been placed on the waiting list.
time to wait some more.
xD

^^^Thats beautiful

Based on personal experience, I believe that they sent the rejections out first.

Rejected daaaag

I run a website with a newsletter list of millions of people. My list is sorted in alphabetical order and it’s sent out that way. Is anyone noticing anything with the email addresses? Addresses starting with “A” getting decisions first? My daughter has an email that starts with the letter “R” and her last name starts with the letter “A”. Anyone?

I got my rejection 6.14pm EST. Hope your D gets accepted =D

WAITLISTED :D. I think this is the best possible year to be waitlisted!! Good luck to all!
