<p>^not unless you took a new test that hasn’t been sent to Harvard yet. I think that’s only if you took tests in november so harvard can start considering your app before the official scores come.</p>
<p>bump @shelly318 - I’m wondering about when likely letters are sent out too. I’m guessing though that it’s sort of a rolling thing - as they’re working through the thousands of apps, if they see someone they really want, they’ll send a letter. But if they don’t get to your app until later, they won’t send a letter until later. All the letters couldn’t go out in early november, because there’s no way to get through all the apps by then.</p>

<p>The only reason any school sends out a likely letter is to persuade you to go there early on. But Harvard knows that you’re ONLY applying to Harvard during the early round (because it’s restrictive early action), so they have no fear that you might prematurely choose another college over theirs if you’re admitted.</p>
<p>There’s just not incentive/motivation for them to send letters out. Just forces them to read faster → makes their job more difficult than it already is.</p>

<p>@ChrxswxN–it was me who asked about NEC/Harvard. I know about the prescreening requirements, and of course I’m sending them in by the 1st. Actually, if you start your Unified Apps, you have to select the degree program to which you’re applying, and one of the options is the five-year NEC/Harvard program. Also, for voice majors like me the prescreening requirements are different for NEC/Harvard applicants. So they know, all right. </p>
<p>My question was actually this–are you going to send your prescreens <em>to Harvard</em> as supplementary materials once they’re recorded. I was thinking of doing so.</p>

<p>^I’ve heard they have multiple rounds during the admissions process. I believe it goes from region (where they see who else applied from your school and the region you are in), to cambridge where multiple regional officers sit down and look at it, afterwards it goes to a committee of 35 people which includes Dean Fitzsimmons and his deputy dean. So after that when they have weeded down to their magic number, they are still usually over the limit and then have to cut more people who otherwise “passed the test”. It gets pretty loud and intense during these meetings.</p>
<p>So if your school historically sends pretty much nobody to Harvard (we had one a few years ago but that was pretty much it), is there still a possibility that they could accept 2 people from your school?</p>
<p>Probably. I don’t think they put too much into effect how many people are applying from your school and deciding who to accept and who not to accept especially if it is a public school (though it might be different if you attend say Phillips Exeter). If you meet the criteria they have for that “round”, then you get sent to the next round which is multiple officers, and the next round which is the 35 person committee etc.
I know my high school sends 1 or 2 people to Harvard every year along with a bunch of others to the ivies but there were years when my school did not send anyone to Harvard so it really depends how strong the applicant pool is for that school during a particular admissions cycle.</p>
<p>I submitted my app on October 31 and received my application status login info almost a week ago (last Monday or Tuesday). But I still haven’t heard anything about an interview–no phone call or email or anything. Should I be worried? Harvard has downloaded my app and received my counselor/teacher stuff, according to Common App. So I don’t know what’s going on.</p>

<p>@luv2dance1995: My application was complete by October 15 and I haven’t heard about an interview either. I think I’ll wait at least another week or so before contacting Harvard.</p>
<p>I submitted on the 15th and haven’t heard anything either. I think the best route is to check with other kids in your school/area applying EA - if they’ve heard and you haven’t, then there’s probably something to actually worry about. My friend who attended my school last year (and got in) had his interview on December 14th.</p>

<p>(As a note on the Likely Letter debate, Early Action Likely Letters only go out to athletic recruits because such recruits have been in the process since the Spring and Summer. Someone posted a picture of a likely letter for early action a few pages back, but that girl committed for softball. Harvard assumes students not being recurited for athletics who get in early action are interested enough in Harvard to attend anyways, so they aren’t too worried about giving such students likely letters to spark interest.)</p>
<p>I submitted my supplement October 19, and heard back from an interview November 1.</p>
<p>@prelude: I’m sorry @__@ I honestly am not *that * familiar with the Harvard/NEC. I honestly have not even finished my pre-screening yet, but with that said, I did send in supplementary materials for my solo piano work to Harvard of other pieces. I’m not sure that you can still send supplementary materials to Harvard since it’s past November 1st already 
I’m sorry if I’m being hard to work with, I’m just not so acquainted with the dual program.</p>
