@frozens “Harvard does have a higher acceptance rate for SCEA, in the last application cycle they had less applicants than Yale and Stanford” ------ I remember in H information session, one student asked question: “Why H has higher acceptance rate for SCEA comparing to other SCEA”, AO answered: “We have very strong pool in early round”. But I am just wondering: Y/P/S also should have very strong pool in early round @-)

Wait, all you guys had to fill out special forms and stuff? I literally had to do nothing besides give my GPA and test scores. Should I be worried that my interviewer didn’t ask for anything more?

I wouldn’t worry about it. I generally only hear about alumni associations in the more “intellectually-crowded” and populous areas of the country asking for those forms.

I had my interview on Saturday and it went absolutely great without such a form. Met a cardiologist from Harvard + Harvard med. school. Came very prepared and learned a lot of things about Harvard that only a former student could know.

I’m a little surprised with my experience compared to everyone else’s. Three weeks after I submitted the application, I got phone call from a Harvard alumni and met at Starbucks. I didn’t have to fill out any forms or register anything. I wouldn’t have known where to do that if I wanted to. It seemed really, really streamlined and not bureaucratic at all. I wonder if that’s just my area (South Florida).

@dmazai what kind of questions did they ask (and how did you respond)? Also, what kind of questions did you ask about Harvard to show interest?

@StanfordWOW I wish I do not need to write a pre-interview resume. I think my local Harvard club requests it is because they want to know each student before the interview, then it will save the interview time.

@ whoever is worried about not having been contacted about an interview.

I called and the lady assured me the window is wide and interviews can run until a week before decisions. Then she said “quit your b*tching, the world doesn’t revolve around you, we have problems of our own you know.” She then went on to tell me about her marital issues and how she found pot in her son’s bedroom.

@Karabekian … DId she really?!

Lol @Karabekian she really said that? Wow! @-)

@Karabekian ???

Oh, btw-- just to add-- I have a friend that only got his interview on the 6th of December last year. He was accepted. So, no worries.

If anyone is interested, take a look at this page: <a href=“Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2018 applicants thread - #1171 by Phlogiston - Harvard University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1531926-official-harvard-scea-class-of-2018-applicants-thread-p79.html

It’s the SCEA discussion thread from last year. Page 79 is decision day, just before the decisions started coming out. Just reading it made my heart beat faster…

So, how exactly are we supposed to get through a whole MONTH?

@Bemusedfyz How come last year people knew exactly which date/hour Harvard would release SCEA result, but we do not know the exactly time this year?

@artgirl0000

I don’t think that they did know far ahead of the time. I think that they found out on the day, or 1-2 days before.
We do know that our decisions will be released in between the 11th and the 15th. I’m pretty sure we’ll have more info by the 10th or 11th.

Looks like decisions were announced at 3:00 est last year, which means I’d still be at school then if they release then at the same time this year. The thought of finding out my admissions decision while at school is utterly nerve wracking!
And @Karabekian, did she really say that? Was this someone who worked in Harvard admissions, because if so, that is highly unprofessional!

@Bemusedfyz I just searched that thread. Last year Harvard post the announce date on status page (check page 54, post# 800)

“Early action decisions will be e-mailed to the address on record Friday, December 13 at 3:00pm EST.
Letters to admitted applicants will be mailed that morning”

Joking guys, she was professional. Maybe a bit edgy because I called the minute office hours started and she told me to “sit tight and be patient”.

@artgirl0000 great, that means two or three days before decisions are out, we will get informed on when to expect our decisions! So nervous !!! :-SS
@Karabekian lol I thought so! That would be so not professional…and so not Harvard type

@Karabekian: And now I feel incredibly gullible haha!

Since the results came on a Friday last year, I guess results should be out on the 12th then!
@frozens haha same here… Can’t believe we fell for that one, lol it was so obvious come to think of it !

@PcollegegirlP: I’ll blame it on how nervous this wait is making me! I’m becoming a little bit crazier every single day ;)

@frozens trust me u r not the only one… Gosh one month seems so long… Im Just counting down the days.
Hopefully time passes by quickly… One day we will all be like, “omg , decisions are coming out tomorrow,” hrr the thought of it made me shiver… :-SS
