<p>Same! It was actually a pleasant surprise and I thought the email was quite nice, especially compared to other waitlist notifications. For now, deciding between Vanderbilt and Amherst!</p>

<p>Hey everyone! 
Personally, I’m really excited that they didn’t decide to reject me, but I still REALLY want to go there. Some online articles recommend sending a letter to our regional contact, etc. to help get off the waitlist. I have a couple questions regarding how I should go about making myself look better to the eyes of the Harvard admissions committee.</p>
<p>1) I’m actually flying to Boston next week to tour Harvard and MIT (this was something I had been planning no matter what decision I get from those school. I did get rejected MIT, but I didn’t really want to go there anyways). Since I’ll be there, would it be better to deliver the letter in person?</p>
<p>2) Also, while I’m in the area, should I request a meeting with an admissions representative from Harvard?</p>
<p>3) In the letter I write, I’m definitely going to talk about why I love Harvard so much, and what I think I could contribute to the college, but what else should I include? Or should I not include the things I just mentioned?</p>
<p>4) Anything else, any other recommendations would be VERY strongly appreciated. I seriously can’t stress enough how much I love Harvard, and though I know the chances I get in now are extremely slim, I will definitely give it my all. Not giving up just because I wasn’t good enough to get accepted in the regular decision pool.</p>

<p>My son is on the waitlist. In the meantime he’s deciding between Berkeley and UCLA.</p>
<p>@Tohmas789 and @trigonal may I ask how/why you decided to commit to UCLA in the meantime? My son is deciding between Berkeley and UCLA and was very interested to hear that other Harvard waitlisters picked UCLA. Thanks!</p>
