How many of you are waitlist?

Does anybody know how many people were waitlisted last year? How many of them were accepted in late May/early June?

How much money do I need to pay Harvard to remain on the waitlist?

81 were accepted last year I believe. you don't pay a thing to them. 700-1000 waitlisted, 2/3 remain active. decisions usually by may 31, certainly by the end of june.

really? i thought you have pay deposit to be on waitlist.

Where did it say 81?

A ton of us are waitlist. Harvard waitlisted everyone and their dog. But we should count our blessings...so many people, including my genius legacy friend, got denied...

I think I read 81 in a Crimson article.

The US News on-line premium college edition says 81 were accepted from the waitlist.

That was for the Class of 2008. For the Class of 2009, I believe the number was 28.

oh...great...I know that I'm going to stay on the wait list, but man...the chances don't look so great...I'd love to go to Harvard, but if not, I am definitely happy with Dartmouth and UPenn!

Do we have to do something really amazing like win a major award or go to nationals for a sport to get unwaitlisted? Or is unwaitlisting ppl just based on college's own preference?

same question here?

The waitlist is not ranked.

Those selected from it, as likely as not, will reflect the demographics, EC interests, etc. of those "lost" - as each person initially selected is seen as a unique part of the class Harvard hopes to construct.

Can we still send in more info or can people call?

So, wait, I'm waitlisted as well, but I really don't know how the waitlist works.

Do we still accept an offer from another college on May 1 and just wait for Harvard in the meantime?

Harvard did not admit 81 kids off of the waitlist last year. Harvard admitted 15 kids into the Class of 2010 off of the waitlist, and then offered a few more dozen a spot in the Class of 2011. It all depends on the yield. You won't hear anything until May, but I would go for it and you don't have to pay anything.

anybody know how many or what percentage of applicants Harvard waitlisted this year?

In my area, there were 20 Harvard applicants. One was accepted regular. 3 were waitlisted. None were accepted EA. I have no clue how other areas fared.

You know what they're telling us?

"you're good, but not good enough." They accept what, 2500 kids? We're the other 1000 kids that were almost, but not quite...

I'm happy. It's a rejection with a smile. Thanks Harv!

the way i think of it is we want you but not bad enough...i accept that because i am a white generic biology major with no hooks, i'm a dime a dozen
