We have a third!! LOL. D goes tomorrow for her interview and .....uhhh......whatever it is they are doing. Wish her luck as she is going ALONE.

Good luck to your D, C-mudge. I hope you can post the experience for us nervous nellies!!!
Your d seems like she has got it together so I'm sure she will shine!
Tell her your CC buddies are pulling for her..:)

I am keeping my fingers crossed for her and sending good vibes her way. I'm sure she'll do a fabulous job. Wish her luck, please!

My D will be there tomorrow also (she's doing an overnight tonight.) Much luck to yours. May they both walk away with positive feelings about the school and $$$ in hand!

My D and husband and I are going up tomorrow afternoon. Good luck to everyone.

D is there today. Send big vibes at 3:30 Central Time. LOL. Thanks, folks. Good luck to all of our kids. I'm pulling for them.

Your daughter is in good hands. The admissions people are super. Best of luck to all invitees!

I keep wondering whether being one of one today is good or bad. I think she thinks that they have a day's worth of questions for her. It's raining at Hendrix and the little genius has zippo rain gear or even a coat. Note to D, watch the weather channel.

I can't wait to hear how she felt about her presentaiton. I was sending big-time good vibes her way at 3:30. Let us know! :)

Well, I guess rain may be better than the 20 degree weather on Monday!

Good luck to all the Hays nominees!

Ahhhhh I'm going there on Saturday and I am SO nervous!!

So Bush in Houston was shut down this afternoon for a "security breach". D's flight was cancelled. She's rescheduled to fly in on Sunday afternoon and do her thing on Monday morning. It was a hectic, tense afternoon, but worked out , I hope, for the best. Good luck to everyone.

Sorry Maysixxmom, D said a couple kids were affected. Sorry it was y'all.

The report is all good. She loved the interview. Had personable profs (2) and a student (1) who questioned her. Felt she held her own as well as a kid from Gopher Gulch can, anyway. Everything about campus appealed. She came home VERY tired after Tuesday night's VICTORIOUS playoff game and all I got were the basics. Not exactly the in depth analysis I was hoping for, but hey-she survived and feels good about it.

The only impression I got was that the evaluators were looking for some ability of the student to derive and present (and maybe briefly defend) their own ideas from the written work being discussed rather than regurgitate facts contained within the work, or simply mimic the author's voice. I know that's not much of a clue for you but that's all I 've got so far. Sorry.

Thanks for the insight...we'll find out soon enough...S isn't even nervous. I don't know if that's good or bad. His presentation is a bit off the beaten track so either it's thumbs up or thumbs down :0 I wish they'd give money to the participants who make the trip up there just to ease their parents' nerves!. Anyway, see you guys (that's California speak) on Friday!

Cur-
That's exactly what they are seeking for the Hayes...All the kids are intelligent and very capable, that is how they were chosen to start with. They want to see how these kids think. There was a booklet included in your daughter's package which listed Odyssey projects, which I found interesting because of the variety.

Thanks Cur for the feedback (and congrats on the game!) Just happy to here positives about the campus and environment. Hope my D feels the same as yours.

What topic did your D choose to present?

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's flight, maysixxmom, but happy to know she was able to re-schedule. Good luck to all the Hays applicants. We'll be leaving home tomorrow morning and look forward to seeing everyone there.

maysixxmom, she did the DNA one . Dawkins, I think it was. Pretty interesting piece.

Help! Do we need to bring a sleeping bag for S's overnight? Or are they going to give up one of the beds for the participants???
