Yubi,
Yes, that's what it says on the website. All I can tell you is that both my child and I each called several times during the application process. Each time we were both told (separately) that the decision for an out-of-state rolling school (or a private school with a scholarship attached in which the app had to be submitted early) had to come back after Dec. 15. Though I quoted the website to the admissions people, they were adamant about this. Though this did not make sense to us ... we were not going to tempt fate. My child was accepted SCEA so it all worked out. My suggestion is to call - or at the least, print out that web page so that you have proof if there is a problem up the road. My child was not willing to take that risk!
In any event, never rely on someone's advice even on an Internet site - always check for yourself if there's any doubt. :)

:] Thanks twinmom. That was encouraging! ^_^; I'm going to take my own risk for SCEA. ^^

Good luck to you. My other suggestion is to work on all of your applications right after your Harvard one is done - and have them ready to go just in case. It's not fun to have to start apps on Dec. 15 if you're waitlisted or such. Put your best foot forward on each one - you never know!

ahh! so many possible-economics-majors.... do you all have experience/plan on having some experience in the area? Because all that I will have access to is a half-year honors economics course. (i'm trying to brainstorm of some higher-level alternatives)

I'm reading a bunch of economics/business courses currently, work at an asset management firm (but not with the financial stuff), run a business council organisation overseas and are going to startup a tutoring business next term (maybe I should apply RD to show some history from the firm).

Hmm.. i don't doubt what you say but it's strange that the harvard website would put incorrect information. is it a possibility that they want to have an idea about the certainty and degree of interest in harvard? either way, it's Discouraging. Twinmom, do you also have other information on international applications and such? for example, do you know if one were to embark on a year exchange program, does that mean one has to apply as an international student?

Here's a switch from the bunch
african american studies and government/ scea or ea- whatever it is lol
Everyone seems to be gearing towards economics!

juniorinhs - I'm studying two years of economics at school, it's quite easy. If you want to get into it read The Undercover Economist or Freakonomics. They're very easy to understand, very interesting (in a non-conventional way) but also excellent introductions to the subject. Also reading a paper and getting relevant work experience would help, but don't go overboard.

i'm surprised so many people are planning on going into international studies/relations too!
