Violator, if I HAVE to guess, I’ll go with rejection. The odds are highly in favor of that.

^why rejection itsmylife99???

I was being facetious. Chill. :)

Oh well such “facetious” or “sarcastic” messages don’t translate well on the internet unfortunately.

Sarcasm doesn’t travel over the internet.

It doesn’t?

^Nice to see you drop by ImmaFly…how’s Cornell treating you??

Immafly if u dont mind me asking how much did u get on your sat for cornnell??

He got a 2370 in sat1, 2400 in sat2 pcm2

:P

oh **** thats amazing…btw are international students expected to have scores higher than the local americans or is it ok to be at the 50th percentile??

50th percentile is good enough.

No, international scores generally have to be higher than the equivalent American scores at most universities.

^Most colleges generally state that while considering SAT scores, they look at the applicant’s socio-economic background. So if an Indian whose native language is Hindi/whatever scores 2300, is it gonna be better than an American’s 2350???

Once you reach 2200+, most scores are equivalent.

^^No. Indian applicants are considered to be overachievers and a good SAT score is commonplace.

So there’s not much of a difference between 2390 and 2250?? I find that hard to believe.

Also pixie, depends on how you define a good SAT score. I haven’t seen many Indians cross 2350, or for that matter 2300; but yes 2200+ is common to many Indians.

Obviously, higher the score, the better. I don’t espouse the commonly held opinion that any score above 2200 is viewed as the same.

Most people who end up in the Ivies do have a 2300+ score. Or ranging in late 2200’s.

2200+ is considered a very good score and yes, a 2390 and a 2250 would not hold much of a difference. Specially in the admission process. No adcom is going to go, “Okay, so these applcants look similar but this applicant has a 2390 and that one has 2250. REJECT the second one immediately!!”
This is where the “holistic process” of reviewing the applicant actually comes into play.

Remember, a good SAT score gets you in the threshold, but never expect it to help you in the admissions process. It is basically a first round qualifier. After that, it is a more deeper review of the applicant where the SAT score holds little or no hold. There are many debates on the importance of SAT scores on this site; I’m sure you’ll be able to find them easily.

so basically would u suggest that i take a test to improve over 2210…provided that im shooting for the ivies??

No. Read my post again to fully understand my implication.
