***Official Intel STS 2013 Page***

@Angel, I know I said this earlier, but congrats again!
Im getting more and more nervous sitting here at school…

It seems a lot of you were Siemens Semis. I’ve been checking the Intel STS page periodically hoping they post the announcement earlier…I hope they don’t delay posting it. That would suck …

Sent from my EVO using CC

This is exciting(:

And thank you Hadiram! I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere great too(:

Are finalists chosen from the semifinalist pool or are they in a separate list?

As in: if you are named a semifinalist, are you now in the running for finalists? Or is it like Siemens where if you are a semifinalist, you are not a finalist.

In Siemens finalists are semifinalists also, aren’t they?
I never checked though. I’m assuming the finalists are picked from the semis. Otherwise it’d be pretty annoying to those who are finalists but think they didn’t make it.

in recent years theyve been really prompt about releasing the results at 3

Finalists are chosen two weeks later from the semifinalist pool.

They announced winners, but can anyone find the link? Do they post that at 3 and announcement earlier?

Yeah I just cannot find the link…can someone post the link?

They’re probably updating/adding it

Yeah probably dang I’m so nervous

They’re up didn’t make it :(

It’s up, didn’t make it, not really upset xD

Yeah haha well it would have helped my college app a ton.

semifinalist! shocked. congrats to those who made it and to those who didnt, dont be discouraged! there are plenty of other competitions and im sure you guys will do great there, no worries’

Nothing, damn I would’ve liked a semi. Whatever, a few good friends placed so I am proud of them. Either way, good luck on college acceptances and enjoy senior year. Hopefully I will see some of you in Cornell haha.

Semifinalist :D! Congrats to all the other semi’s and good luck in the finalist round! To everyone who didn’t make it, you all worked hard with the applications and especially with your research projects, so I know it is disappointing. Just applying to STS shows that you will probably end up somewhere great for college  so I wish you all well for the future.

Congrats to all of you that made semi-finalist!

I didn’t make it, but I had a feeling I wouldn’t. It was a nice experience though!

You guys have any advice for a hopeful junior?

As one of this year’s semifinalists (who is still completely shocked, btw), I would suggest that you research something you’re truly passionate about. That passion shows through in your research report!

That said, try to emphasize the qualities that a scientist would have in your essays. They’re not necessarily rewarding the best research reports… they’re rewarding the students with the most potential as future scientists. (I discussed how my numerous failures shaped the eventual success of my project…)
