OFFICIAL Johns Hopkins University Class of 2014 RD Applicants

Applied RD and indicated Math/Econ interest. :)

I applied RD hoping to do pre-med and study public health.
Just scheduled my alumni interview, so excited!

wow 2014 already? time certainly flies

does anyone know when decisions for regular applicants comes out ?

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will mail decision letters to all Regular Decision applicants prior to April 1. We plan on releasing decisions in late March, but an official mail date has not yet been determined. Additionally, once all decision letters have been mailed we will send decision e-mails to all Regular Decision applicants who provided a working e-mail address with their application. Please note, Johns Hopkins does not have an online system for checking application decisions.

thank youuu

That’s great news, although if decisions are sent by mail, it’s going to take well into April by the time I get mine here in Singapore. (unless of course, the emails are sent as soon as the letters are mailed out). But thanks Daniel, it makes the waiting somewhat easier.

Decision e-mails are sent the evening that the postal mail decisions are sent.

If I recall correctly from 3 years ago, decisions were sent by e-mail on a Thursday (at 6pm I believe). The next day, upon arriving home from school, I found a USPS package which contained the official acceptance envelope and stuff.

@AdmissionsDaniel: Please don’t feel obliged to answer this question but I’ve been thinking about it and I’m curious if the major we pick will affect the way an admissions file is read. I understand that BME’s popularity, selectivity and rigor necessitate a separate consideration, so for the sake of this question let’s exclude BME. I’m particularly interested in International Studies and I’m wondering if its popularity (based no doubt, on the fact that JHU is home to perhaps the best IS program in a lib arts setting) will make the admissions process any more competitive for a prospective student who is considering it.

To Admissions Daniel: Do you send UPS/DHL to admitted international applicants? Thanks!

Srrinath–The answer is, except for BME, all applications are viewed as “undecided” major. See [Hopkins Forums -> Intended Major in the Admissions process?](<a href=“Leak nudes - The Home Of The Sexiest Thots, Nipple Slips, Bikini Pictures, Nude Streamers From Patreon, Onlyfans And Much More!”>Leak nudes - The Home Of The Sexiest Thots, Nipple Slips, Bikini Pictures, Nude Streamers From Patreon, Onlyfans And Much More!)

Thank you. You beat me to it.

See the link posted by bonanza. Those Hopkins Forums can be pretty helpful.

@MED VIRID
We use a variety of services to send admissions decisions abroad. UPS/DHL/USPS are all used. We have determined for each country what is the quickest system to mail. DO note we only use special mailing systems to mail admit packets. Other decisions, deny and wait list are mailed Air Mail through USPS.

folks you guys worry way too much about this stuff (how/when decisions are sent etc.)

relax and enjoy your last days of high school.

Sooo, what is everyone doing besides school??

“Sooo, what is everyone doing besides school??”

Speaking from a Hopkins junior’s perspective (time flies…it wasn’t so long ago when I fanatically posted on CC about my college admissions), school takes roughly 50%- 60% of my time. Other than the daily 50 minute lectures, there’s plenty of time to do many other things. I spend about 2-3 hours a day working on next week’s hwk and assigned readings. If there are large assignments or midterms, it would take up considerably more time (5-8 hours per day for studying).

Aside from classes, I’m currently involved in founding a student club. We are still trying to convince our rather slow student government to speed things up and not act like a government bureaucracy…

At the same time, me and my friends are going on a ski trip this Friday organized by the Housing and Dining Dept. It’s on friday night and at a very cheap price ($35 covers everything).

Right now, at Nolan’s (one of our dining halls with not-so-ok foods run by this food company called Aramark), we are also able to enjoy watching the Vancouver Winter Olympics on big screen while eating dinner. We also watched the super bowl with a roomful of sophomores and juniors a few weeks ago.

Oh, of course there’s the GMAT (or GRE or MCAT or whatever else you are taking) that I’m studying for right now. I signed up for a Kaplan GMAT course at nearby Rotunda Mall that meets every Thursday night. Eerily, studying for the GMAT feels like the good old SAT days all over again…except this time I’m much more chilled about the test (it’s just a test afterall…). Although Hopkins doesn’t have a huge business curriculum, I’m still doing my best to prepare for business school applications that are due in a few months (earliest is Harvard 2+2 program deadline in just 4 months in July).

Many of my friends and peers at this stage (juniors) are also thinking about their post-graduation life. Grad school? Work full-time? Euro trip? Study abroad? Go back home and live with your parents for the rest of your life?

Most people feel that grad school is definitely a good option, as the job market isn’t quite secure at the moment. Since november, I’ve applied to all the big Wall st. firms for their summer internship programs and got many interviews, but in the end no result. To say that the process is grueling is an understatement…their interviews (I had 5 rounds of interviews with one firm alone) make my college alumni interview look like a tea party.

All in all, this is a brief snapshot of a Hopkins junior’s life in school. If you think getting in is hard, I’d say that deciding what to do with your life after Hopkins is even more challenging. My advice to prospective Hopkins freshmen is to try to enjoy your time here. Try out new things. Interact with others to build character. However, at the same time, don’t lose sight of your goal and what you really want to do in life. Use your time and resources here to try and gradually realize your goals and dreams, step by step.

Time to revive this thread! Post your favorite ice cream flavor! (Random, but better than debating when decisions will come out.)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ftw!

Mint choc chip for me!

Or the Reese’s peanut butter ice cream sundae from Baskin Robbins - the main reason for my wanting to study in the US.

any type of sherbet. yum XP

Hey guys, is it okay for me to just wait? cuz I have never received any e-mail from the school, except those from commonapp website that confirm my submission of applications.
