Official June 4 SAT Reasoning test discussion

Anybody got the twin passage about how nice it would be travel alone or with a companion? It was probably experimental.

nope but i thinka remember the correct answers so if u got any answers i think i can help

Kilini, I got that passage.

^^ But I couldn't have been experimental for me--I had four math sections.

Was there a Test with four critical reading tests, one of which had 25 questions? That means that the 25 question test can't be the experimental right, because the 20 minute question multiple choice test had 18 instead of the regular 19?

“initially perplexed”
what were the other choices?

Extraterrestrials
-stab in the dark question --> to show how great the challenge was or something?
-was eccentric an answer? Near the part w/ zany

I had eccentric for one of the answers, but for the stab in the dark question, I said it was "hopelessness" because the passage continued to say that the chances of finding life were slim, and that it was largely based on chance.

zening is right

i said hopelessness too

Hi, here in Egypt we had an essay about the effects of the mulimedia on society. Is this the one you're talking about?

does anyone remember a math question where it had a graph of 2 intersecting lines labeled f(x) and g(x) and f(x) = mx+b... what was the answer to that one? I kinda ran out of time so I guessed that g(x) = 1/m - b/m I think

for the stab in the dark, i said it showed how great the challenge was. i dont think they were hopeless about it.

I agree with grumpybear. ... Even logically, why would they be trying if they felt it was hopeless?

... There was something in the prompt that made me think "great challenge" instead of "hopeless" but I can't quite remember exactly what it was.

Ok when you are stabbing in the dark, its all about luck. Forget about how you are the world greatest swordsman or anything because it all won't better. also great challenge? how is it a challenge. would you say winning the lottery is a challenge? ahtour was talking bout how small the chance is and only if we are VERY VERY lucky can we gain signals from the aliens

well its not completely hopeless because there still IS a chance

it just said hopelessness not complete hopelessness.

in high math, when a chance is so small like in that of a lotteries, it can be concluded that the chance is 0%.

the chance of detecting the aliens is way too small and 99.9999999% won't happen thus the project is hopeless

Just to let you guys know on the "thoughtful prudence" one, it was that.
I noticed a key word in the guys statement about luring a sabertooth tiger: The guy did not say to never call "hey kitty," but, damn, i cant remember the exact word, but something to the effect of "initially" or "at first." He said like you cannot go in all the sudden, its too much risk. He realized the value of SETI, but he thought our society was too vulnerable or not ready at the moment.

vehement, wats ur average verbal score? on practice tests, etc...

700-750....i liked this test tho..none wrong atm except maybe the one bout the stabbing

i dunno...i still think its hopeless.....that was the vibe i got from the last paragraph, etc....and i got thoughtful prudence too
