Official June ACT Score Thread (now available)

English: 35
Math: 25
Reading: 35
Science: 27
For a composite of… 31
Essay: 11
Combined E/W: 34

I’m okay with this! I hadn’t studied at all, as I’d been counting on the SAT, and just took the ACT cause I’d already signed up. I didn’t even know that you weren’t really supposed to read all of the science stuff.

Also, interesting…the SAT HATES my essays, but appparently the ACT doesn’t? Is this normal?

My SAT superscore is a 2150 at this point, and I’ll be taking the october SAT. My question is, should I take the Sept. ACT as well? Or is that too many tests to show colleges? (If i send all my scores, that will be 3 SATs and 2 ACTS). Also, does ACT have score choice–like, if I do much better on the Sept. ACT, do I have to send this one at all? Trying to get in ED at Johns Hopkins (Writing Seminars major). Thoughts? Thanks!

Why not? Bumping up your science and math scores would help your score a ton.

Essays on the SAT and ACT can be a total crapshoot sometimes, plus the ACT writing test gives you a lot more writing space than the measly two pages provided for the SAT essay.

Here’s my scores (first time poster):

First time I’ve taken the ACT since sixth grade btw.

Reading - 36
English - 35
Math - 35
Science - 35
Essay -10

Pretty happy with my score. Kinda sucks that just one more 36 in one section would have bumped the composite up to 36 (I think) but it’s whatever. I’m happy with the score I got :)

Composite: 28
English: 36
Math: 26
Reading:26
Science: 25
Writing: 32

My goal is to have a 32 composite by the end of october. I am about to start studying for the summer and am just wondering what books would be best for me besides the red act book which is obviously very helpful.

C 36
E 36
M 36
R 35
S 36
W 11

Well, that went well

good… but bad in reading

I have three people I am watching scores for and they all took the writing. Their scores are up for all on the ACT site to view… BUT not the writing score.

I can’t make the “glitch” work for any of them to find out their writing. I’ve tried Chrome and Safari I get the “Transaction Can’t be completed error message.” I’ve made certain that I don’t have any spaces as I had that problem before and got the NULL error. I even tried the nice little Score Checker that Nspire made, and no luck.

One of the students got a 36 on the science, I’ve seen a couple of others on the thread that got that as well.

Congrats on the score. How did you do so well? I’m a freshman with a 23 composite at the moment. My main weaknesses are English, Reading, and Science.

How did you study for it??

Justamom. I’m having the same problem as well with my writing scores. They’ll come out within the next few weeks. Until then, the common app essays and various supplements should keep everyone busy :).

I just checked my scores yesterday and I was very surprised and happy with the results!!
I took it cold (no prep) in 9th grade, and I got:
English- 34
Math- 33
Science- 35
Reading- 36
Combined English/Writing- 34
(Writing- 11)
AND… Composite- 35
I was very, very pleased, although I definitely did not expect this, especially with no studying!!

Got my son’s scores Monday morning via the ACT site, but writing was not available. Been checking regularly since then. Checked again just now, suddenly writing score was there. Just wanted to let everyone know!

Do you guys concur that math and science were really hard on this test?

I got my English up to a 33 (I’m content… won’t do any better next time,) Reading up to a 28 (I’m content… won’t do any better next time,) but my Math/Science are stuck at 29/26, respectively. I need to get my math to at least a 34, because it’s my best subject, and I think my science should be about 30. If so, I’d get a 31 superscore, but I’m stuck at a pathetic 29 superscore right now.

The math was okay, but the science section I don’t like in general.

From people I’ve talked to including some ACT tutors, the science section is the most inconsistent section of the test. Sometimes it is easier and sometimes harder and the material varies quite a bit. That makes it one of the more difficult sections to prep for and for many testers it can be a wildcard in their score. Of course there are students who score well on science no matter what, as there are in each section.

Interesting swing of test scores for one of my friends:

Feb ACT: 29
April ACT: 32
June ACT: 26

Six point difference… wow.

C:34
English:34
Math:34
Reading:32
Science:36
Writing:??

Kinda disappointed writing was down at a 32 but overall I’m glad since i got a 5 point raise from the 29 composite i got last year in june

I’ve seen a lot of people say the Science and Math is their worst and is the hardest (even by the 34-36 Composite scorers.
But here I am with a 36 Science, 35 Math.
Damn that 27 English.

Thank you Jay 1996!!,

I just went on and under the normal way to look for scores and the writing was still not showing up. But just as crazy4disney had done, I used the glitch and I was FINALLY able to get the PDF print out everyone has been talking about and it includes the writing scores. I was able to do this for all three people I am tracking.

And for you Doubting Thomas’ out there, the writing scores even have a little Comments section on it letting you know what you did well or not so well on so it is not just your score like:
COMMENTS ON YOUR ESSAY: YOUR ESSAY ADEQUATELY SUPPORTED GENERAL STATEMENTS WITH SPECIFIC REASONS, EXAMPLES, AND DETAILS.

So, if you have been getting the error code, try checking back again.

I saw somewhere else that for the glitch to work, you have to have tested previously. Is that true for those of you who were able to use the glitch to view your writing scores?
