Official June SAT Math IIC Discussion

10 more days fellas. How you guys feelin about it??

Hoping for an 800. COME ON! I'm going on a cruise the 29th through 3rd but will have most of the third for review. Took sparknotes test number 1 yesterday. Scored an 800 with raw score 43. Some dumb mistakes and some topics I didn't know that I now do. Best of luck to everyone!

Just an idea, how about we do what people were doing for the ap stuff. An educational game where one person asks a question and the next person answers and posts a new question. I think it would help, anyone else (even if you are not taking it june, but sometime in the future, or just feel like doing this)?

yea stix im hoping for an 800. CB will feel my wrath thos bastards

I'm gonna review barron's this weekend for the test..aah!

i dont understand some of the logic stuff on IIC. LIke if P then Q??? and the contrapositive is the write answer, ahhhh

The logic on the 2c is not with p's and q's. Those are just helpful to know for certian statments. Basically, if you have good reasoning skills, there is no need to know, you can just eliminate the choices. For example,

"If A is false for some of x, then B is false." Which of the following is logically equivalent to the preceding statment?

A. If B is false, then A is false for some x.
B. If A is true for all x, then B is true.
C. If B is true, then A is true for all x.
D. If B is false, then A is true for all x.
E. If A is ture for all x, then B is false.

This is a really hard logic problem, hardest type you would see...

is the answer c?

Yup, its C. See my thread "Sat math subject tests educational game" and play!!!!!!!1

i hope sparknotes is accurate.

does the SAT II with TI help in improving scores?

I am confused about my ACTUAL estimated score on this test.

I took a practice test from Barron's SAT Math IIC 7th Ed. Book and got 710

However on the same day later on I took a test from Princeton Review Math Subject Test Book 04-05 and got 790

Which is more accurate??? As I recall from SAT II Chem, Barron's has much harder tests?

Please answer quickly ONLY 10 DAYS!!!!!!

My goal is 800 by the way, is this still possible???

Technically you can't say that barron's isnt an accurate prediction of what you'll get because there is not a conversion table in that book. But the model tests are harder than I'm sure the real thing is (I am certainly counting on that, haha) but don't tell me because I'm anticipating a pleasant surprise once I'm done with the barron's tests and I do a sparknotes one online.

The PR one is accurate while Barrons has some topics that will not be covered. I am sure you will get 800 wheel.

I've heard that PR is a little harder than the real thing. Not sure thought. If you take a sparknotes test by creating a username and claiming your first free practice test, your score will be about right there.

S always runs out of time. Are there any tricks to help him speed up?

Hmm. make sure that you don't get bogged down on one question. If your not sure or just can't get it, MOVE ON. Not doing that would be a score killer. Also, at the begining when it may seem like there is alot of time, don't carry out meaningless computations on your calculater (i.e. 15+19, when you can eaisly do that in your head) or check obsesivly, do the problem once. Check it/or just see if it makes sense and move on. If it was a long problem, don't do it again just to be sure, it will cost you points. You can come back to it at the end.

for those who have taken the SAT II MATH 2C test, are princeton review tests pretty accurate to the real thing??

cali: practice, practice, practice. Especially algebraic manipulation; i.e. solving for x. That comes up a lot and he needs to be able to do it fast. Practicing a lot gets him used to the questions, and once you're more familiar with the test you can do it faster.

Also, of course there's what other stix2400 mentioned: if there's a hard question, leave it till the end. Otherwise he'll take a long time doing it, then have to rush the easy questions which he would otherwise have had plenty of time to do. Once he's done all the questions he can, then he can start checking.

Dear Students,

At this last moment make sure you go over:
1. 3-D coordinate geometry,
2. matrices and determinants (three dimesional ones as well),
3. solving equations (trigonometric and non-trigınımetric as well as transcendental) with your graphing calculators,
4. transformations on functions,
5. and basic calculus (limits calculations, horizontal and vertical asymptotes)

Best of luck to you all.
