I think I can guarantee what they say about long essays=good grade. Mine had no content or structure, but filled up the full two pages.

Kind of a side note, would scores like these give me any decent chance at the ivy level, or should I go again just to try and raise the bar? I never as much as even touched an SAT vocab book and I kind of guessed on half the definitions, so an improvement wouldn't be that hard.

Where are you guys seeing the essay score? Under test scores for my D it just has the three sections listed and then on the top it says score report and essay will be available July 5.

CR: 680

2210 for the win! :D went up by 230 pts overall from the Jan SAT, so I'm done with SAT I!!

you can check your essay score by going to college board, get scores, and view and send score

Personally, I was surprised with my 10 on the essay, in a good way. I didn't provide concrete examples as to what the task was asking, and mostly just BS'd 1 3/4 of a page.

Just want to throw it out there for those who don't have it, this is what it looks like for those of us who have scores. Nope, we didn't do anything special.

Critical Reading: 600 (-30) disappointing...

I think my biggest problem with the SAT is not being comfortable/familiar with the test. Being comfortable helped a lot on the ACT because I had a 5 point jump in june. The next time I take the SAT, i will probably take a lot of practice tests so I feel better about taking it.
My critical reading scores sucked... again.
With some actual preparation for the next test, hopefully i can get a better score.

Tomackze and Jersey mom: thank for the tip on looking up the essay score.

My D got a 10 on the essay up from 6 last time thanks to tips she read on CC. She's away at summer camp so I have to call her again with the score. I called her earlier and she was actually disappointed with this score due to the math (the scores sounded great to me):

Critical Reading: 800 (770 the first time)
Writing: 780 (up from 660 the first time)
Math: 720 (690 first time)
Total: 2300 (up from 2120 last December)

^Wow, that's an amazing increase! Awesome score!

Thanks. The increase was mostly on the writing section. She used the suggestions from this older thread on CC and it really helped with the essay score. The first time she didn't pay as much attention to the "formula" part of the essay writing.
