OFFICIAL MARCH SAT 1 discussion

“”“collegebound2009: I read fast, when I saw times the image of actually multiplying the number went into my head. 8 does seem rediculously easy but apparently it was correct. sucks because people that put 256 like me get it wrong for college boards poor wording lol. at least gridins dont have an 1/4 incorrect penalty =/”“”"

it’s 256, what are you talking about? wasn’t it the last question, so it can’t be easy… common sense people c’mon

I am 100% that 256 is correct because I actually grided in 8 on my answer sheet, then when I went back through the questions I switched it to 256 because it asked for how many times more transistors will there be.

ok, number 18 is the last question of the math section, do you really think the SAT will make it so easy that all you have to do is 144/18

seriously… i can’t even fathom why people think that number 18 gridin could be simple addition and division

arc10791: i know right…

well the inverse proportion was so easy that you didnt have to write anything down to find the answer.. i thought that was pretty simple

i know this is jumping back to CR, but what was the answer for the plant researcher, for lack of a better word (the short passage). It asked how is she described. choices I remember were originality, dexterity, and perserverence.

collegebound2009, I said versatility. I’m almost positive that’s right.

Question on CR too… What was the answer for the meaning of “degree” in context? The two answer choices I remember are stage and extent.

I put extent, but I had trouble with that one. partly because the three words afterward made no sense (something like “being other and elsewhere”)

i think it was extent.

Good, I put extent too. I hated that passage; alot of the words together just didn’t make any sense whatsoever.

for the 13 1/3 question .. how do you get the answer? i thought it was 15?

yea i think i put extent too

@sky
use that cool guy’s formula: 2ab/(a+b) if you put in 10 and 20, you come up with 13.3333

sky-raptor, the key to that problem was recognizing that it took the person half the time to type the pages using 20 pages/day (or whatever the units were). So you do (10+10)/(1.5), essentially.

or pick an arbitrary amount of pages such as 40. she took the first 20 pges at 10/day so 2 days. she then wrote 2nd half in 1 day (20/day).

so avg the rate for each day. (10+10+20)/3 days.

ohhh now i get it. i forgot to calculate for the 2nd day .. doh!

versatility or originality?
also the united states passed law guaranteeing red cross …something… some said guaranteeing because ambiguous whether it was the US or the law guaranteeing, but i put no error?

How many “no errors” on the error IDs did you get for the writing section?

I wasn’t sure about the “guaranteeing” one…I thought it was ambiguous, but I’m probably wrong.

*no errors on the error ID section

I thought it was ambiguous too. I’m pretty sure that’s right.

I think I ended up with a relatively low amount of no errors. Maybe one or two. It sort of freaked me out.
