Official May 2008 SAT discussion

"Soooo... the Math section with the babies on June 15th was experimental right?"

Nope :</p>

are you sure the reflected across the x axis is 5?

^ I hate that question. Effing babies.

Was y=3x the answer to the question that asked for a line that was not in quad. II and III?

So far I got the babies question wrong and the 4 circles one wrong...I omitted the Italian/German one, lol, and one other one...i hope those are the only ones!

^ yeah thats what i put. The other one (y = 3x + 3) crossed into one of the other quadrants

Yeah Joe, I just put them all into my calculator and graphed them, lol. THis is probably why I didn't have time to finish one section.

Yeah, I did it the same way.. lol..

was the reflection across the x axis 3?

Are you talking about the ? that had that crazy line?

I got 5...i think thats what the majority here has been too.
lol @ u guys graphing with your calculator...just think about it! it took me like 2 seconds. calculator mustve taken at least a minute...

I am really paranoid when I take the SATs.. I make sure I do everything possible to ensure that my answers are right.. lol.. but yeah I know what you mean since the y intercept is 0 and it was a pos. slope then you can easily tell it did not cross the other two quadrants..

Yeah, it's y=3x.

Pretty darn sure of it. ^
I wish they hadn't marked the quadrants... that would have made it a little harder for some people. :p (jk).

Haha, yeah, I actually thought that when I was reading the question. Like yay! I know which quadrant is which, then I looked at it, and they were marked >.>

^ My thoughts exactly.

I'm curious. In the US, do you study all these SAT Math concepts in grade 11/12? Because, here in India, I've most of these things in grade 9, and the rest in grade 10. I hate the education system here, though.

This is Grade 9, 10... (possibly 11) stuff.
So the thing in South Asia when people say 'studying abroad is easy and white people are stupid'... (<--- okay, maybe not, lol.) is a big fat white slimy LIE.

:/

Oh man...
Didnt the question require an equoation that, if drawn, wouldnt be negative? >.<
I chose x=3 --
My first mistake --

^ SERIOUSLY?
That was such an EASY question...

lol, sorry, I was going to fall for that trap too.
It's okay Rangzen. -1 can still equal 800. :)
