*Official May 6th SAT Discussion*

I'm going to go in about 15 minutes to my high school and take the test.

We can't talk about it until after everyone has taken it. I'm not sure what the exact time is.

But good luck to all! =)

yep.. I just took it and came back home..

I want to discuss about it.. but i guess i'll have to wait..

btw.. i found May SAT test pretty easy..

you guyz?

Yep, reached home about 2 hours ago. Found it pretty easy too...

May 31 ... 25 days to go

what about EXPERIMENTAL section? i had 4 verbals. :-(
so, did anyone here NOT HAVE a passage about a woman and her diary, with a note from which she is puzzled? it was inscrutable

Even I had four Reading sections ... I had three normal reading sections and one section which had only one passage on which the number 9-24 questions were based. I think the experimental section should be that one. I don't quite rememeber if that was the one about the women and her diary.

I think the math went okay, I made one careless error for sure though.... but the CR was.. well I don't know what it was- but I had so many! I think I had like 4 or 5 (Can't even remember cuz my brain is so fried now). For the essay I BSed all the way through but filled the 2 pages.

Uncle Sam, I had it too. GOD, I can't believe we had so many texts!! Like there was this section with two small texts from question no 5 or 6, then another big one, and at the end another big one. I mean, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT??? I really hope that was the experimental one, cuz I didn't even have time to finish reading the last one (I read it in 3 mins O_O ) and I answered the questions assuming stuff that actually happened, not to mention that I had no ideea what the text was about ... :(( Weird section, that's gotta be the exp1.

Hmm, besides that, the math sections were cool, and the Writing stuff too. I really liked the essay, it was approachable from any point of view. Aight, now good luck to all who took it and spam here some more of your thoughts about it!!

Lakshya, the section you're talking about had a text about cheetahs, and yes, it had two collumns, very big, but since I found it interesting (I like animals a lot) I had no problem with it. I sure hope that it wasn't the exp section.

How many marks can you drop for each section and still get 800? Was that paper easier than most?

Just took it! Went fairly well (this was my first time to take the SAT since 7th grade). There was one confusing math fill-in... (the one with two angle x's-- didn't know if each was its own angle or if it meant combined)... but overall I think I scored decently.

ABSOLUTE Worst Case (highly unlikely, but I'm preparing for the worst): 1900
Best Case: 2200
Likely: 2050+

Anyone know what score you need for Top 15-20 schools as a URM?

I'm a URM, I've heard that a lot get into Ivies with 1300 Old, 1950 new. That might be a minimum though, and they usually have very good class ranks. Check the lower percentile for SAT scores at some of these schools, but remember, your rank in class/GPA is more important. I have a 2200, though, so I'm chill. ;)

If you want to know the curves of the last test, use this link from a thread I started and go to the last page:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=2298029#post2298029

any chance passage about the "notebook" was exp? ... that one was pretty hard

yea... the test totally sucked... i did well on the verbal and grammar, but i totally failed the math... on the first math section, i think i could'nt finish the last 3 questions, so I just randomely guessed, ^^... well, so far it seems like we all took the same version of the may sat??? i think the texts were pretty easy and interesting...
for that diary thing, i think the main point was that she didn't put everyting down like in a scientific way, but because thats kinda her nature... she sees herself as belonging to an own kind... and i think she didnt really kno at first wut her notes were about, but then she tried to sort of reason it out... thats wut i think... the cheetah one was pretty straightforward.... i mean basically he just talks about how there endangers and stuff...
wut do you guys think about the math curve??? i kinda screwed it... u think its still possible to get 700+ with 5 mistakes???

ps: does anyone wanna get together, i mean like in a chatroom??????

I didn't have the test with the diary passage.

I'd like to know this too.

Hey, just wondering. How do ppl find out which section was experimental?

the May test was so much easier than April!!! Finally- thank God
I had the test with 4 math sections (all were easy)
Essay was great
Writing was the only one that was ehh..but I already have a good score in that so w/ee
CR - passages were so interesting... cheetah passage was great.. and the fight between the chinese girls haha!!!
MAY SAT= great

Truanz, we don't. We just guess. The only way to truly know it is if someone didn't get that particular section or by visiting CB after a week or so.

Ok about the painting question was it "abject terror" or "growing unease"?

im relatively sure it was growing unease.

did you guys put "flippant" or "pedantic" for the one about bubble gum. and the Thomas Jefferson was heretical or ignorant?

grwoing unease
