I really hate that essay!

Scorpiodiva, I didn't do as well as Bog but hopefully you don't mind..

For prep I took maybe 5 practice tests from the blue Collegeboard book, 1 from Princeton Review, and 1 from Barron's (I wanted to get some variety, lol). Overall, I think the Collegeboard tests were the best.. Princeton Review was bizarre and not like the real test at all, and Barron's was too hard haha. But Barron's is DEFINITELY the best book to study vocab.

For vocab prep I only looked at the 30 or so flashcards Barron's provides in the back of their book. They're SAT "hot words" which have come up in the past quite often and I think around 10 of the words I studied came up which helped a LOT! Ten raw score points on CR add up to nearly 100 points scaled, I think.

But the best prep you can do.......................... READ READ READ. Preferably, since you were a child. And voraciously. But if you haven't, that's fine too -- start reading newspapers, TIME magazine, National Geographic, and well-written books NOW. It will boost your CR score tremendously. Find something that interests you though. It's a waste of time to read a book you don't enjoy. Good luck.

I ended up with a score of 2330. I'm done.

P.S. I would advise setting up a rough timeline for the months until you take the test next. Schedule practice tests so the real one doesn't sneak up on you. I definitely regret not doing this. All of the practice tests I took were in the last week and a half before the test lol... I'm a horrible procrastinator like that!

My prep (I got a 2370) consisted of about twenty hours of studying for my IB math test which was coincidentally the same week. I think that practice tests best help is format wise. I think my scores were higher than I expected because I wasn't worrying about the SAT...I was too busy worrying about IB and the ToK paper I still had to right!

Haha, how'd you do on your exam Inkling? I actually felt much more confident about my IB math exam than SAT math.. :P

I feel you about the TOK.. I just gave my TOK oral pres. yesterday. thank god it's over! IB's a biatch.
