<p>looks like ED was more competitive this year and that the applicant pool was stronger than it was in years past. As it looks, people not in the top 10 percent of their class are not getting in.</p>
<p>If that's the case, I am going to be really angry, because I come from a super competitive high school. It's a public high school and roughly 79 out of 501 kids in my class got a 30 or above on their ACT.</p>
<p>last year, 86% of the enrolled students were in the top-10% of their hs class. the percentage for admitted students should be even higher. consider the athletes (nu has a fairly large div-1 athletics program) and others with special treatment, the odds is really against you if you are not in the top-10%. </p>
<p>it's also one of the criteria used for us news ranking and i am sure colleges look at it more just because of that.</p>
