Official Northwestern University Transfer Thread

wow patriot, flat out rejection? gives me little hope…

same here… ahh, we’ll see I suppose.

Got some more news from “an inside source”
They are waiting to see also how many of the accepted freshmen plan on enrolling, because then they decide how many transfer/waitlist students they will allow in. Let’s hope those Freshmen got in elsewhere, haha. But, thing is, the deadline for deposits for Freshmen was May 1st.

Also, I read in previous threads that transfer applicants were given Id numbers and passwords to check sort of an online status? Noone received this this year, did they?

I remember reading that too about the id’s and whatnot… I just got an email from northwestern saying that my application was complete and under review (this time it wasn’t an email in response to something I emailed them). I didn’t get an ID or anything of the sort, it just said that I would be notified of a decision by the end of june or earlier. I got so excited for a minute when I saw the email haha!

I just got this e-mail too FreeClear. Probably got sick of us calling them lol. Good to hear by the end of June though since last year, some people didn’t hear until July I guess.

yeah i got the email too. wouldnt make anything of it though

yeah, definitely am not…

I also received that same e-mail today. NU contacted me before for my spring grades and they receive them last week. When did everyone apply who already heard? I hope I hear soon! Can any past transfer comment on their experience as a transfer student?Socially?Academically?

I got the e-mail today, too. I was bummed that it didn’t say anything more than a sort of “thanks for applying” message. No ID # or anything though.

hey, guys. I also received the e-mail today. I am very happy that my application is complete and under review even though I did not send my spring grades that was pretty low to be accepted.

i sent in my spring grades too although they werent that good.

Also, in the email, it has that tidbit about your email address because they will be sending stuff electronically. So they are emailing the decisions? yet someone posted awhile back that they got a decision via snail mail. hmm
and i think they just stopped doing the online ID thing this year, but i’m not sure

I was told it was against the school’s policies to release decisions by email or over the phone when I asked about getting an email when my decision was in the mail, so no–they won’t be releasing decisions via email I think.

hmm, wait did we all get the same email? mine has a line that says:
“It is important that you continue to use this account throughout the application process as essential information will be sent to you electronically at this address.”
but if its not an admissions decision sent via email…???

We got the same email, but the response I got yesterday from one of the transfer reps explicitly stated that they cannot release decisions over the phone or email. I think the importance of the email is for getting ahold of applicants immediately to get missing or additional paperwork in. Maybe we’ll get lucky, though, and they will start sending out emails with decisions instead.

random question…when you email the transfer address, is it an admissions officer who responds? Haha i hope not, i may have bombarded them with too many questions over the past month or so

yeah, it’s an admission specialist. The lady I’ve been in contact with is named Liza. Every time I email the admissions email she responds.

I don’t know if this makes a difference or not, but a friend of mine got accepted to the Northwestern Graduate Program for physics and he first got an email and then he got a phone call letting him know of his acceptance. I don’t know if they are able to do the same with the undergraduate admissions…

hmm we’ll see.

I got accepted today. I live in Chicago. I didn’t see the acceptance package because I am out of town interning though. I applied for econ.

Congrats!! I envy u. could you tell what ur stats, smartguy907?

3.58 1st semester 4.00 2nd semester, 1990 SAT, random recs, essay were ok but very specific, I guess wikipedia works. I went to a very good high school in Chicago but I slacked. Econ major w/ finance work experience.

to those who have already been accepted/rejected: was there anything in the letter about how many applicants there were and how many they intend to enroll?
