Probably zip. Sorry kindofblue, there's no place for the middle-class in higher education anymore.

Possibly the biggest problem in education today.

Luckily I managed to find a college that cut me a break. Looks like I won't be headed to NU though.

did u guys get an email? about decisions??

Still no decision from NU here. Loyola is looking better every day though. Their financial aid award was close to 90% of tuition.

just called the admissions office and they told me my decision was not available.i had to reply to other schools by the end of this week, but they said they couldn't gaurantee me a decision before that. what can i do??? :(

Idk about your financial situation, but if you're really that interested in NW, you can double deposit? Or save a spot at whichever options you have now and if you get in to NW you can withdraw I think?

It works like that for Reg Applicants... You can always call and ask the school you're going to deposit at.

Idk of any other ways?

Vicki, I would definitely recommend depositing at your other school to make sure that you get a spot somewhere. You might be able to get your deposit back if you find out soon enough anyway.

thanks,guys!

My status page says my application was COMPLETED on April 1, 2008. So why don't I have a decision??

I'm pretty sure that means that you sent in all the necessary transcripts and such by April 1. Mine says it was completed on Feb. 14.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous how long it is taking for us to get decisions. Other college's deadlines are approaching, and I really need to know if I can go to NU. Perhaps in the future it would be wise for NU to have applications due by April if they're going to dilly dally in taking so long to complete them. University of Chicago sends out decisions 2-3 weeks after the due date for transfers. Why is this so different?

they have an extremely large pool of applicants??? or they read applications REALLY carefully?

Maybe they could be waiting until all applicants send in spring grades so as to send out the responses all together?

I would imagine that schools on the quarter system would not be able to send their grades until mid July, so maybe that's one possibility?

they said notifications could come as late as in August.

Oh man. Where did you hear August? That's ridiculously late.

Aww, sorry guys. I know how awful it feels waiting and not knowing when decisions will come in the first place. I agree that Northwestern should have a quicker turn-around time, but then again, they might have a really good reason why they've kept the process this way over the years. Best wishes.

I am applying for the Winter Quarter 2008 since I missed the deadline for Fall. I have a 3.56 gpa, not a high chance of getting admitted but I'll try anyway.

bump................

any acceptees/rejectees want to be kind and post stats/ECs?

So uh, has anyone tried calling NU about decisions or anything? I want to so badly just to see when we can expect decisions but haven't been able to due to pure fear.

A bunch of us called or wrote, with varrying answers. I was told late July at the latest.

i've called twice, and both times got "we will try to get a decision to you by the end of the week." going to have to put a deposit in at another school--anyone else in this situation?
