Stats:so-so test scores, but I kept taking the tests
SAT: 630m 610v
ACT: 28
SAT IIs: 630writing 620math2C 660biology 590literature 500spanish
GPA:4.17 W
Rank: 10/1000 ... yep, my school is huge - record size graduating class in the county
Other stats: A lot of Community Service hours
Subjective: Awards in art and dance
Essay: A personal life-shaping story; shows who I am
Teacher Recs: excellent, diverse collection of individuals - teachers of several subject areas, dance teacher (English is her second language, but she did a nice job), school principal, pastor (ND alumni)
Counselor Rec: great, very supportive and confident
Hook (if any): I visited ND in middle school, and have longed to attend ever since. I hope I still have the opportunity.
State or Country: California
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
major strength: top 1% of class, dancer, lots of extras
weakness: test scores
why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: My profile is common - white, Catholic, not a first-generation college student, not a decendent of almni, good grades and activities
Going to attend: It would be a dream come true!

and boy was I disappointed. My EFC is around $27,000, but ND is awarding me no grants/scholarships whatsoever and only $4,925 in work study/federal loans! I thought Notre Dame financial aid was supposed to be good! Why did they determine my EFC to be $10,000 different than FAFSA did?????

Does Notre Dame ever accept appeals to Financial Aid Awards and possibly grant students better packages? I might not even attend Notre Dame now because of how bad of a package they gave me. It's totally ridiculous. All of the other schools I got into are offering 10,000 more dollars (on average)/ year than ND.

Well, its official, Im not going, they offered less than Georgetown. Anyway, I know there are many people that really want my spot and are on the waitlist. Good luck to whoever gets it, I hope you will love it at ND. Should I reply to ND, telling them I don't want to go?

brenner--good luck at G'town! I'm still trying to choose between 3 schools. ND is being somewhat slow with their revised financial aid, so I might not know until the weekend before "May Day".

ha i just found this page. thought i'd share.

Hook (if any):
Location/Person:
State or Country: NY
School Type: Public

major strength/weakness: creative essay, dad is alum, good rank for competitive hs / barely any ECs
why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: no idea. didnt think i would be.
going to attend? no, too much $ w/o financial aid.
Other Factors:

njark, that does suck. I can't believe with the stats you provided, and being a legacy, you were rejected. How was your essay and ec's. You had to be in the top percentage of your class with a 4.0.

Good luck with the transfer. It sounds like you are motivated and will have an easier time getting in as a transfer student. I wish there was something I could say to make it better but it's hard to get over a major disappointment. Hang in there.

Harry Potter... mugglenet huh? I'm from Chicago too and Im a big Harry Potter fan. I've definitely browsed your site multiple times.. that's really cool that you'll be at ND next year. If they decide to access the waitlist I may be attending too... just curious... how much does a site like that bring you $$ wise?

It's Emerson... kind of funny that his name is big enough that anyone would think that someone would pose as him. Haha Emerson... you're famous! lol
