@a20171 Haha yeah I gotcha. So girls will have a slightly different experience than guys, or at least different than mine, just because of the dorm I’m in. On weekends during first semester, my dorm will throw parties every Friday and Saturday, and I’m sure most dorms are the same way. However, during the first half of second semester, parties slow down because it gets much colder and girls are less willing to come to parties when it’s freezing out. We’ve thrown 2 parties since syllabus week, and one of them was thrown by the freshman.
For off-campus parties, again, I’m sure girls will have a different experience than I have had. Guys only go to parties that people from their dorm host or if they know the hosts personally. Girls probably have more access to off-campus parties, but from my perspective, there aren’t all that many off-campus party opportunities for freshmen.
We have a handful of bars and clubs that underage students can get into, most notably Feve. If you want to party as often as possible, the general routine for people from my dorm is Salsa’s on Wednesday, Feve on Thursday, and then either dorm or off-campus parties on Friday/Saturday.
I know that there will be plenty of parties during admitted students weekend, so you’ll get a taste of what the social life is like here if you are able to make the trip.
Did I miss anything, or do you have any other questions?
@IvyHopeful98 That was definitely what I needed to hear. I love everything about ND that was just the one aspect I was iffy on. If I get in, I’ll definitely be going for the accepted students weekend. Thank you!
@IvyHopeful98 thanks for your post, that was helpful for us also. What “non” party options are there are weekends, if it’s a night where there aren’t a lot of parties or if students just don’t feel like going to a party?
@collegemomjam If you aren’t partying, there will almost always be people just hanging out in the same boat as you. My friends and I tend to do the same thing, so when we aren’t partying, we are just watching movies, sports, or just talking with other guys. It’s a very work hard play hard atmosphere here, so if you aren’t using your weekends to decompress, then you’re likely going to be studying and trying to catch up on sleep. As of last year, we were the second most sleep-deprived school in the country, so trying to catch up on sleep is a pretty common thing here lol. The university also a does a pretty good job of hosting non-alcoholic events, so there is almost always something to do, no matter what you feel like that night.
@goblue8721 I don’t think there is a specific day, but ours came out on March 18 last year.
Hi everyone, a friend of mine currently studying at Notre Dame told me that decisions should be released before HISE invitations come out. That means, this Friday March 10th probably. Good luck.
Not sure about that. History shows they release an email 7 days in advance with a portal link. It seems ND sticks to tradition and I think the 16th seems like the best educated guess. We shall find out if we get that email link on Thursday.
@IvyHopeful98 hey! thanks for all the helpful information do you remember if Notre Dame sent out an email before your decision email (i.e asking for additional financial aid info)? I have been getting these emails from other colleges, but I’m not sure if Notre Dame gives any hints like that for admission.
@jtfootball in December I received emails and a letter in the mail before my decision was released. I was ultimately deferred.I don’t think it shows anything about your application
@RUHTRA999 don’t see it being 3/18 as it is a saturday and if it was 3/10 i think we would have already received our emails about our portal.but only time can tell! best of luck
@IvyHopeful98 hey i was wondering if you could post your stats or maybe give insights on mine? i was deferred REA and i think i have proven myself since then but i wanted to see how I compared to a current student!
