I am also somewhat of an international student. (Went to high school in New Jersey and Norway). Like you I am also a semifinalist from regular decision. I have only done the 25 minute quiz so far and it had two parts. The first are statements which you respond to by agreeing and disagreeing with varying levels. (Strongly dis/agree, somewhat dis/agree and leaning towards dis/agree.) A personality test really. The second part is a cognitive 15 minute timed quiz with 60 questions. Hope this helps
@Borromeo25 Yes I have ^
Does nomination for a scholarship mean acceptance?
@socalsam from the people I have talked to, they have said Yes you are accepted.
Hmm I hope that’s true! I just called and left a message at the number they listed on the merit scholarship email, so let’s see what they say!
When do we find out about what scholarship we are semifinalists for?
@USPanther They sent out emails on Friday naming you as a semi-finalist for a specific scholarship. In my case it was the Hesburgh-Yusko scholarship program and I have to submit several parts of another application to be considered as a finalist.
Where did you find that it was Hesburgh-Yusko program? Mine just says plain old merit scholarship, but I still have to submit a video as the second part of the application; did your email specifically state H-Y program?
@misterstax mine said in the subject line the H-Y Scholarship Program and I received a follow up with an in depth explanation of the program.
@jojot13 yes I’ll post on here once I hear back from them.
@Borromeo25 yes I got heard from this program
@bkice9 Thank you so much! It definitely helpsXD. Previously found it pretty mysterious haha.
I am soo nervous. I think I’m a good candidate besides my 30 act score and I really think that’s the only reason why I;ll be rejected
@mimimo7890 I relate… except I have even lower, a 28 ACT score :-? Lol. Maybe that evens out with legacy status to a 30?? Haha just humor. Anyways, I know it’s easy to be nervous but we will end up where we are meant to be. Best of luck, and on the day of decisions I’ll be looking out on this thread to see your “I got accepted!!:D” post. You got this!!
@socalsam Any word back from the admissions office yet?
Thanks you too!!! Fingers crossed
Hey guys I know financial aid for international students at ND is very competitive and limited, but how competitive is it? Will they reject kids because of their abilities to pay? I am an Arch applicant (5-yr). My family is able to cover most of the expenses, but sadly not all.
Notre Dame is need blind so no one should be rejected based on financial need alone.
@collegemomjam Actually Notre Dame is need aware for internationals. From their website:
“We are need aware for international students, meaning that a student’s ability to pay does affect the admissions decision. Every non-U.S. citizen is required to submit a Certification of Finances and supporting financial documents with their application.”
You’re right…sorry I missed the part about being international. So yes, sounds like it could impact the decision. But I also think if you are a strong candidate, they might offer you the aid you need to attend. Hope it works out!
The waiting is the worst! My daughter was deferred Notre Dame, accepted UMiami, UCF and FIU. Waiting on several other schools between now and 4/1. Good luck to all!
